Description |
The Director of Buildings & Ground is responsible for the daily operation, maintenance, preventative maintenance and repairs of the Avondale Meadows facility. Must have working knowledge of all building mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, life safety, fire protection and security systems to ensure proper operations and be able to act upon any conditions that are out of the ordinary. The Director of Buildings & Grounds will direct the cleaning schedule of the Avondale Meadows facility in order to ensure the proper operation of the facility and provide a clean, safe environment for members, volunteers and staff. The Director will supervise 5-8 part-time employees over 3 shifts. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, staff selection, scheduling, training and evaluation, inspection of work, investigation of complaints regarding maintenance/custodial services and taking corrective action. The Director will purchase department supplies, provide inventory updates of supplies/equipment, and monitor the safety/cleanliness of the building. Though primary responsibility is to direct and coordinate the work, the Director will also perform building maintenance functions (approximately 60% of time) in order to meet the needs of the facility.

Requirements |
Must at least 21 years old, have a high school diploma (Associate's degree preferred), or its equivalent. Requires experience in building operations, engineering, equipment and systems maintenance. Must have hands on experience with HVAC, Electrical and plumbing. Requires knowledge and understanding of blueprints. Requires 3-5 years of direct experience and supervision of related technical aspects of housekeeping and general maintenance, operation of small and large machinery (e.g. vacuums, buffers, hand tools, such as drills and saws. Requires 3-5 years demonstrated experience in customer service-related area and assessing and solving related problems and have a proven record of working independently and have a high regard for safety. Must have strong supervisory, computer, communication and organizational skills in order to ensure a well-maintained facility. Obtain/maintain annual certifications in CPR AED and First Aid, and attend other mandatory trainings, such as New Employee Orientation, Child Abuse Prevention and Safety and Risk Management within 30-60 days of employment. Requires strong interpersonal and supervisory skills and the ability to work independently, solve problems with minimal direction, manage multiple tasks, supervise and train staff and communicate effectively with members, guests and staff to ensure safe, well-maintained facilities. Knowledge of fiscal management and supply purchasing also preferred.
