The American Diabetes Association has an exciting opportunity for an individual to plan, manage and coordinate fundraising activities of the American Diabetes Association (ADA) within the Southcentral Pennsylvania market. The candidate will have primary responsibility for two of our signature fundraising events: Tour de Cure and America's Walk for Diabetes. This position is based in our Harrisburg office. The appropriate candidate will be a self-motivated, high-energy person with demonstrated experience in identifying, recruiting & cultivating senior level volunteers and will have a track record of generating financial support for events. The gross fundraising goal for these two events is $450,000 and the volunteer/staff team is responsible for the achievement of this goal.
Successful candidate is results-oriented with solid experience working with and through groups to achieve desired outcome in non-profit. Specific responsibilities include assessing fund-raising potential to develop an annual fundraising plan with goals and objectives; securing major sponsorships for events; managing sponsor relationships which will include media and in-kind sponsors; recruiting and managing volunteer leadership, including an active volunteer committee and executive leadership committee, representative of the diverse Southcentral Pennsylvania market, conducting training and orientation of staff and volunteers; personal selling and customer relationship building experience are highly desirable.
Strong presentation skills, oral and written are required. Must know how to close the deal, confirm mutual understandings, and manage volunteer participation to successful outcomes. Must pay close attention to details, be able to manage multiple activities, and describe ADA's vision of successful events to volunteers.
Knowledge of Southcentral Pennsylvania is essential, as well as a working knowledge of outdoor/community events.
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience * Minimum 3 years of non-profit fundraising and/or special event experience * Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office * Access to an automobile as frequent, local travel throughout the market is required * Must be willing to work some evenings and weekends * Ability to lift 25 pounds
