EXPERIENCED SPANISH- PORTUGUESE MEDICAL INTERPRETER Department: Interpreter Services Schedule: Full Time Shift: Day Shift Hours: 8:30 - 5 Job Details: - Bachelors degree required A minimum of a bachelors degree or equivalent is required. A minimum of 80 hours of education in Interpreting skills, Code of Ethics and professional Conduct is required. 3-5 years of experience in a healthcare setting as a medical interpreter with strong medical vocabulary (including vocabulary of medical specialties) and translationskills. Ability to accurately work in consecutive, simultaneous mode and sight translate into and from working language(s). Familiarity and ability to work with diversity of cultural/socioeconomic backgrounds. Ability in dealing with complex, sensitive, and emotional issues. Excellent interpersonal skills and high level of customer service and team building. Ability to follow directions with minimal supervision. Knowledge of computer systems. Medical Interpreter certification is required or process started, at a minimum. Other responsibilities include: Assist in data documentation and preparation of Department statistic reports. Assist in the scheduling of requests, appointments confirmation calls and assignment of interpreters as well as securing follow up in a timely manner. Assist with translation of target languages written materials as needed.
