Basic Qualifications: - 1 year experience as a medical interpreter/translator in Spanish/English - Broad knowledge of both languages & cultures; excellent oral & written command of English & Spanish - Extensive knowledge of medical terminology in English & Spanish - 2 years of college courses or equivalent experience in the health care field - Must possess excellent member service skills & professional phone manner in order to provide quality member service by answering a wide variety of questions from members, hospitals, outside providers, & physicians - General knowledge of terminology related to insurance systems, such as Workers' Compensation, Medicare, & Coordination of Benefits - In alignment w/ US Department of Health & Human Services - Office of Minority Health's Culturally & Linguistically Appropriate Service (CLAS) standards in health care, must pass a Spanish Language Proficiency Assessment for the Medical Interpreter Preferred Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree preferred
