Accountable for establishing a credible product strategy, aligned with the business strategy & feasible w/ investment targets & operational capabilities. The individual will create & manage the organization that sets the strategic direction for each new product within the portfolio & have sole ownership & accountability of the resultant new product innovation. Responsibilities will include the development of an overall product, as well as managing the growth, maturity,& decline of a product post-launch which may include oversight of ongoing enhancements or extensions for an existing product line and /or line of business. Leads the development of multi-year product roadmaps,& the research into & identification of long-term market needs that Kaiser Permanente must address to generate highest value & return for the markets it serves. The Director's scope includes the entire portfolio of new innovations such as DHMO, Open Access Plans, Prevalent Plan & Health/Wellness. Product Innovation responsibilities may include vendor selection & integration, network management as needed based on the nature of the product, involvement in ensuring operational fixes and /or administrative issues are handled, business process & policy & procedure development & implementation support, involvement in development of product training content, product marketing content, change management, business requirement development, development or refinement of product performance tools & communication. Essential Functions:
- Accountable for establishing a credible product strategy, aligned with the business strategy & feasible w/ investment targets & operational capabilities
- Draft and/or direct new product strategy to ensure alignment w/ overall Product Development direction & present to senior leadership & socialize across the organization
- Direct, lead & champion all Product Innovation programs to ensure that products are developed based on applicable deliverables that itemize customer requirements across regions & business segments
- Direct Product Innovation project plans & timelines to ensure that a given product plan will produce desired results for the targeted market segment & regional operation and/or to meet broader product solutions which would be developed for segment specific strategies. Identify & address key problem areas for remediation
- Direct & seek sponsorship for key actions necessary to remediate all problems/issues & make recommendations to management on steps to ensure product is delivered on time within specifications
- Leads cross-functional and/or cross regional teams of personnel on complex & difficult activities that support Product Innovation agenda, processes,& programs
- Directs the Project or Program Manager (or is accountable if no project manager is allocated) to ensure that a comprehensive Project Plan exists for all key initiatives. Routinely reviews Project & Product scorecards & timelines & incorporates & addresses key outcomes that are caused by delay or project resource gap into a comprehensive impact analysis
- Directs the creation & manages the product line/product category to demonstrate the value that is delivered to the customer & KP so that KP Products continue to meet evolving customer needs
- Directs the promotion & development of all applicable key deliverables for the region or market to ensure that product initiatives move successfully through the approval gates

Requirements

Basic Qualifications:
- Eight years experience of prior Product Management experience within a relevant market segment.
- Eight years in a Product Development capacity.
- Eight years of key customer contact within a given market space.
- Eight years experience of benefits policy development &/or benefit design & management.
- Three years management experience.
- Bachelor's degree in related field.
- Demonstrated knowledge (broad expertise or unique knowledge) of policies, practices & systems.
- Demonstrated ability to develop advanced concepts, techniques,& standards.
- Demonstrated ability to develop new processes based on PDMP.
- Demonstrated ability to apply advanced principles, theories, & concepts.
- Demonstrated advanced knowledge (broad expertise or unique knowledge) of benefits, benefits administration & health care delivery from either or both a provider & payor perspective along with insurance industry policies, practices & systems.


Preferred Qualifications:
- Solid foundational understanding & experience navigating IT processes, org charts & accountabilities
- Masters Degree
