Description

The Associate RN is a newly licensed registered nurse (less than one year of experience as a registered nurse) and will participate in the Associate RN program at UHC/SMA until the Associate RN completes the equivalent of one year of full time active practice as a registered nurse and meets expectations as a RN at which point the Associate RN may advance to RN status. The Associate RN works under the supervision of the RN Manager with the support of the Clinical RN Educator/Professional Administration Department and the Clinic RN Preceptor. The Associate RN must identify themselves as an RN during patient and documentation encounters. The Associate RN will perform patient care tasks after demonstrating documented competency in performing the task /skill.
 
Primary Duties of the Associate RN:
  • Performs basic RN nursing functions.
  • Directs patient care including vital signs and performance of duties within the scope of practice of a registered nurse in the state of Nevada.
  • Collects and documents patient information related to patient care.
  • Performs set up and assists provider with procedures and process during the office visits.
  • Accurately documents completed patient services.
  • Demonstrates willingness to advance skill set.

 

Excellent customer service, flexibility, the ability to work as a team player, and effective communication as well as organizational skills are integral to success in this position.

Requirements

Qualifications:
  • Graduated from an accredited school of nursing approved by the Nevada State Board of Nursing required.
  • Completed senior preceptor clinical rotation at an SMA clinic and recommended by SMA preceptor preferred.
  • Active unrestricted RN license in the state of Nevada required.
  • Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider (BLS) certification or willing to obtain with in 30 days of hire.
  • Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred
  • Knowledge of current nursing practices. Understanding of limitations and willingness to seek out resources and assistance.
Skills:
Ability and willingness to accept and utilize supervision. Maintain professional attitude toward confidentiality of clients records and conversations. Effectively communicate both orally and in writing. Functions at the Advanced Beginner stage of nursing practice

Critical Thinking:
Advanced Beginner to Competent critical thinking based on employer's competency evaluation. Able to complete assessment, develop plan of care, implement interventions and interact with all members of the interdisciplinary team. Seeks frequent validation of clinical decision from expert level mentor and provider of record if individual feels they are not competent in a skill set.
