Vice President, Public Relations
Location: VHA, Corporate Headquarters - Irving, TX
Overview:
The selected individual will provide overall leadership, direction and strategic focus for VHA Public Relations. Lead the development and implementation of company-wide public relations strategies, media outreach plans, and crisis communications management in alignment with VHA's mission and business strategy. She/he will collaborate with VP, Public Policy to support public policy communications needs. She/he will develop and maintain strategic partnerships enterprise-wide - especially at senior levels (VP and above), as well as with external agencies and vendors.
Responsibilities:
· Oversees the development and implementation of annual public relations/media relations plans and budgets, crisis communications strategies, and thought leadership/speaker's bureau.
· Responsible for goal measurement and ROI for the public relations team.
· Applies in-depth knowledge of industry trends and proven public relations practices to properly position VHA's offerings.
· Tracks critical local, state and national issues and identifies strategic opportunities for VHA's public relations engagement.
· Builds and maintains strong media relationships to improve quantity and quality of media coverage and increase awareness about the expertise and impact of VHA.
· Manages outsourced agency relationships and recommends opportunities for greater efficiency.
· Establishes and adheres to budgets (revenues/ expenses) for all areas of responsibility.
· Aligns Company resources with current and future needs of the customer.
· Achieves results by influencing decisions through advice and counsel to others.
· Partners with other internal resources in the execution of the strategy.
· Achieves results through leadership and people management of key function(s) within the organization.
· Holds subordinates and teams accountable for performance and development.
· Builds and supports a diverse culture to drive innovation and business results.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communication and/or Business, Healthcare Industry, Government Relations/Legislative Affairs or Brand (internal/external) Strategy/Management.
· MBA preferred
· 10-15 years' experience in Public Relations. Preferably in a healthcare solutions/product provider or consulting.
· Excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills.
· Proven track record in development and oversight of comprehensive public relations strategies, strategic communications, crisis communications and message positioning.
· Strong project management and organizational skills.
· Advanced knowledge of and ability to utilize Microsoft Office applications.
