The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) of the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) invites applications for an open rank (assistant/associate/full professor) tenure-track faculty position to begin in fall 2017. The background of this person can be in any area of Electrical Engineering. However, the department is especially interested in candidates that will contribute to the growth of research and academic programs in applications of additive manufacturing (i.e., 3D printing) in electrical, electronic, and electromagnetic devices and systems.
The individual selected for this position will collaborate with faculty on interdisciplinary research projects and is expected to develop and maintain an active research agenda, secure extramural funding, mentor graduate students, teach and develop courses in ECE, and serve on departmental and university committees.
ABOUT THE ECE DEPARTMENT: The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at UTEP (http://ece.utep.edu) has an enrollment of around 470 undergraduate and 81 graduate students (M.S. and Ph.D. students). The ECE faculty is actively involved in sponsored research with annual expenditures of more than $2 million. Research activities are distributed in multiple research laboratories at the Department (http://engineering.utep.edu/ECE/research_labs.html). Department faculty is also affiliated with major research centers at the College and Campus level such as the W. M. Keck Center for 3D innovation (http://keck.utep.edu), and the Research Institute for Manufacturing and Engineering Systems (http://rimes.utep.edu). The College of Engineering W. M. Keck Center for 3D Innovation is a nationally recognized center in additive manufacturing.
The department offers an ABET-accredited Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree, a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Electrical Engineering, a Master of Science in Computer Engineering, and a Ph.D. program in Electrical and Computer Engineering.

SALARY: Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in electrical/computer engineering or a related field, as well as experience in processes and/or applications of additive manufacturing (3D printing) for applications in electrical engineering; however, preference will be given to the overall originality and promise of the candidate's work instead of any specific area of specialization. The ideal candidate should have a strong research record and a commitment to undergraduate teaching and graduate training. Excellent communication skills are required.
