Description



Position Summary:


Responsible for Mayfield Heights lab equipment, tools and supplies as required by the various labs. Includes evaluation, recommendation, planning, purchasing, leasing, inventory, calibration, and maintenance of lab equipment. Also requires the tracking of expense and capital budgets necessary to support the purchase and maintenance of test equipment items. This position will also be responsible for the data maintenance required for asset management and metrics to assess the performance of the Library.  Assists in disseminating technology information covering new test equipment by coordinating vendor meetings or shows with the engineers.  In addition, collaborate with BU partners to develop technology roadmaps and identify productivity opportunities for the Library


  • Manage all capital lab equipment/tools including maintaining appropriate inventory in Equipment Library, maintaining software licenses, creating a tracking system that identifies who has possession of equipment and where the equipment is physically located. Reclaim equipment from users for redeployment as the need arises. Advise and train end users on equipment capabilities and usage as required


  • Proactively manage the calibration, update and repair of equipment/tools/networks to meet RA policies and procedures as well as product development schedules.  Determine the levels of calibrated equipment necessary to maintain development schedules.  Develop maintenance contracts with equipment/tools maintenance companies in conjunction with Strategic Sourcing.  Proactively track calibration status of all equipment library items and maintain all documentation related to calibration per applicable RA procedures.  Identify and implement opportunities for productivity savings regarding calibration


  • Review expenses and capital requests for the Equipment Library.  Track expenditures and provide summary of monthly expenses.  Maintain open order agreement to expedite the acquisition of supplies for lab use.  Collaborate with BU partners to develop capital forecasts for new equipment per roadmaps


  • Issue shopping carts for the purchase/lease/rental of equipment for all Development Engineering departments as well as maintain an asset list, and provide input into the capital budget forecast


  • Collaborate with BU partners to develop a resource plan and roadmap for hardware and software equipment.  Work with BU's to identify the current and future development equipment/tools/network requirements for Mayfield based hardware development teams to support future projects.  Develop a plan for future equipment purchases based on these needs.  Collaborate with BU's and suppliers to identify new technology to support future needs of the BU's as well as productivity improvements that could be realized through utilization of new technology


  • Assist facilities and EHS on OSHA issues as required.  Provide input on safety issues related to lab equipment


  • Maintain and develop vendor relationships insuring low cost/high quality metrology services.  Utilize relationships to facilitate the identification of new instrumentation technology within RA


  • Provide easy access to new technologies through vendor seminars, shows, and individual meetings with engineers and technicians


  • Identify and document good business practices associated with purchase and maintenance of test equipment as well as productivity opportunities that could be realized through utilization of new technologies


  • Lead or serve as subject matter expert on teams tasked to solve issues related to vendor/supplier performance and corrective action


  • Assist lab team to solve issues as they arise through safety and quality audits


  • Proactively initiate corrective actions on issues associated with lab equipment to mitigate costs overruns to the business or schedule delays



Minimum Qualifications:
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
 

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience with use and/or calibration of electronic test instrumentation.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Access or equivalent database software.
  • Detail oriented, good organizational skills.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas for this job opening.


 
DESIRED REQUIREMENTS:


  • Familiarity with database programming and management desired, (e.g. MS Access, Visual Basic For Applications a plus)


  • Knowledge of Rockwell Automation specifications, industrial standards and test procedures.
