Description

The College of St. Scholastica aspires to become an institution of choice for students seeking an undergraduate experience on a campus with a strong sense of community and commitment to inclusion and diversity. The Office of Enrollment Management seeks an innovative educational professional to join us as an Admissions Counselor to work from our Duluth campus, with an emphasis on multicultural recruitment of first-year traditional undergraduate students to the Duluth campus through management of a culturally diverse geographic territory in the colleges market. The successful candidate will contribute to the attainment of the overall enrollment target for the new student class, initiating and expanding the Colleges outreach to multicultural students and families in their assigned territory (Multicultural includes African-American, Native American, Hispanic/Latino/Chicano, Asian-American and multi-racial students.)

The position requires a Bachelors degree, previous experience working closely with students of color and diverse populations, and fluency in Spanish. Must possess demonstrated skills in successfully networking with key groups and stakeholders to yield desired results, excellent interpersonal skills that include professional and motivational communication, public speaking, relationship building, and social networking and demonstrated ability to influence and motivate others into action. Experience and knowledge of issues relevant to multicultural students attending predominantly white institutions is a must. The admissions counselor must possess a commitment to working flexible hours to meet department needs; some evening and weekend work will be required. The ability to maintain confidentiality, work with sensitive issues and to exercise good judgment under pressure are necessary.
