Position Summary:

The Rockwell Automation Field Engineering Interns play a vital role in the Rockwell Automation office locations. The Field Engineering Intern position will support the activities of the Field Engineering staff. The intern will have the support of a Senior Field Engineer as a mentor throughout the course of the internship. The length of internship will be 10-12 weeks. The intern, with the guidance of the mentor, will be assigned various tasks associated with the field engineering position to allow the intern to learn about the field engineering careers that are available within Rockwell Automation. 
Many field engineering internships are focused on field service. During the course of these internships, the intern may be asked to perform or participate in:

  • Ladder logic development 

  • HMI development

  • Project status report development

  • Project meetings via phone or at a customer location

  • Observe emergency callouts at a customer location with a Field Engineer

  • The development of process improvement initiatives within the office

  • Observe and participate in customer project start-ups

Some intern positions are more focused on sales, and may include the following customer-facing, sales-related activities:

  • Launching new products

  • Introducing new Rockwell Automation software tools

  • Conducting technology updates

  • Introducing support services

  • Learning our detailed selling process by identifying targets, making sales calls, and tracking and organizing customer input and feedback

Field Engineering Interns are measured according to accomplishment of objectives, which will be established at the beginning of the work term.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Brazil Mobility Program

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75

  • Must be working towards a bachelor's of science degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering (with a strong focus on electrical), or Mechanical Engineering Technology (with a strong focus on electrical) from UW-Milwaukee, Marquette University or MSOE

  • Significant experience with Microsoft Office 

  • Must have valid driver's license and own vehicle for transportation to and from client locations (Rockwell Automation will reimburse for business miles driven)

  • Must be able to work part-time during the school year

Desired Qualifications:

  • Field Engineering interns must possess the following qualities: Strong technical aptitude, self-starter, confidence, strong communication skills, strong work ethic, strong organizational skills, positive attitude, creativity, leadership ability

  • Preferred minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0

  • Some exposure to Rockwell Software

  • Met a Rockwell Automation representative at campus or national conference career fair to be considered
