Description



Position Summary:


Provide supervisory direction for the plant shipping, receiving and material stores functions to ensure effective storage and timely distribution of materials.  Responsible for safe handling and accurate recording of materials movements.  Plan and administer procedures and budgets. Make budgetary recommendations including capital expenditures and indirect labor. Develop schedules and personnel requirements for assigned areas. Select, develop, and evaluate personnel to ensure the safe, effective and efficient operation of the function.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Functional


  • Schedules staff through the shipping, receiving, and warehouse floor space to assure adequate flow of materials


  • Respond to dock and production problems by personally investigating and providing timely supply of materials from central stock to production lines and to Mequon campus for non-production shipments and receipts


  • Maintain department metrics utilizing visual management techniques.  Ensure all direct reports understand their metrics and how they impact/improve each metric. Prepare leads and associates to lead the report-out of metrics weekly to management


  • Support PFEP initiatives to ensure timely supply and minimize non-value-added activities


  • Create and coach logistics teams, assign and monitor hourly personnel to accomplish daily material flow in to and out of the plant efficiently and perform required cycle counts and row audits


  • Develop, plan and implement continuous improvement through teams within the area of responsibility to attain World Class Quality


  • Coach teams in maintaining accurate and timely inventory transactions, including shipping, receiving and cycle counting documentation


  • In conjunction with manufacturing teams and support personnel, develop and implement new or enhanced policies and procedures for material handling and related inventory transactions including timely resolution of issues identified through data health checks


  • Develop and implement action plans to meet department goals in the areas of labor efficiency, labor utilization, housekeeping, on-time shipments and productivity improvements


  • Promote an awareness of state-of-the-art warehousing and material handling concepts and practices utilizing Rockwell Production System techniques


  • Collaborate with production planners, customer service, and other management team members to set work priorities to satisfy customers


  • Use personal computer, SAP and bar code technology to obtain, organize, and analyze data and to prepare charts and reports.  Software skills required in word processing, spreadsheet, and SAP

Minimum Qualifications:


EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:


  • Bachelor's Degree required in Engineering, Supply Chain and/or Operations Management or equivalent.


EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


  • Prior leadership position in a manufacturing environment. 


  • 2+ years supervisory experience preferred.


  • SAP knowledge, particularly Warehouse Management functionality preferred.
