The Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Solutions Division of the National Security Agency is seeking a recent college graduate in the environmental sciences for a career opportunity in our headquarters office at Fort George G. Meade, Maryland. You will join a team of nearly thirty EHS professionals who support mission operations around the world.
Implement sustainability, environmental compliance and pollution prevention programs. Opportunities cross many major environmental program areas including - air, drinking water, stormwater, hazardous and solid waste, storage tank management, oil operations, environmental planning, pollution prevention, sustainability, green buildings, green procurement and recycling.
Entry is with an Associate's degree plus 2 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor's degree and no experience.
Degree must be in a Natural Science (e.g., Environmental Science, Natural Resources Management, Biology, Chemistry, Geology) or a related field (e.g., Public Health, Environmental Health).
Relevant experience must be performing natural science work (e.g., conducting field or laboratory studies, such as sample collection, monitoring environmental conditions, data management), working with facilities management systems (e.g., underground storage tank, water/waste water, air quality/air management control), and/or performing environmental regulatory compliance work.
This work requires knowledge of scientific principles, methods, and techniques concerned with facilities and systems to control pollution and protecting human health and the environment. You must also have an understanding of pertinent aspects of chemistry, biological sciences, and public health that pertain to the minimization of exposure to or release of pollutants.
Are there any Physical Demands?
The work is generally sedentary, however, walking and standing are required when conducting onsite evaluations. Requires lifting not to exceed fifty pounds and some climbing of ladders, both fixed and portable to heights not to exceed fifty feet.
Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule
Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
Salary Range: $44,941 - $71,467

What's the Work Environment like?
The work is performed in an office setting with some potential exposure to hazards encountered in the work place. Some outside sampling and survey work will be required which may involve exposure to weather elements to include, rain, wind, and snow. Typical Baltimore/Washington area temperature spreads should also be anticipated, where low temperatures may drop to 0F and high temperatures may reach 100F.
Will Travel be required?
Occasional travel for training and mission support may be required. 3 to 4 weeks per year is a reasonable estimate. Travel range could include both domestic and international.
What's the Work Schedule?
This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, day shift. Work hours will be negotiated with supervisor.
