Position Summary:


SUMMARY/SCOPE OF POSITION:

The Engineering Co-op works under the direction of the Business Operation Champion with primary focus on the new product development processes. Other areas of focus will include project management office, product project portfolio management, lean six sigma business improvements, and project management processes. The candidate will collaborate with all functional organizations within the business to collect, display, analyze, and define recommendations for improving project portfolio performance measurements. The candidate will learn and use Lean Six Sigma tools to achieve green belt certification resulting in a significant business impact. Other business activities the candidate will be exposed to are how and why products are created and released to market, a understanding of each phase of a product development life cycle, and the technical aspects of product development processes, such as hardware selection, electrical designs, firmware implementation, software communication protocols, etc.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


  • Ability to use Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint, Visio, Word, and Excel.


  • Ability to turn data into easy to understand graphical representations of data to support analytical investigations.


  • Accept and complete in a timely manner the assignments delegated to him/her by his/her manager or supervisor.


  • Experience with documenting work performed.


  • Complete work with integrity and ethics.



Minimum Qualifications:



EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:


  • Working toward a BS or MS in Engineering or Business field.


  • Minimum of a 3.0 GPA 


EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


  • Knowledge of product engineering and manufacturing process design


  • Understand of new product introduction processes


  • Individuals must have a demonstrated record of technical competence, interpersonal skills, leadership ability and a strong desire for achievement

  • Previous experience analyzing data

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with mechanical / electrical / Firmware products is a plus
