Position Summary:


Directs the software systems development function, including:  design, development, troubleshooting, and debugging of both new software products as well as enhancements on multiple hardware platforms.  These software products are used to select, design, operate and maintain all of the products sold by the Power Control Business and many other product groups within Rockwell Automation.

Functional Expertise:


  • Encourage a positive and collaborative work environment.


  • Drive problems toward resolution amidst ambiguity.


  • Lead employee development process including performance reviews, career coaching and support other human resources initiatives.


  • Other duties as assigned by manager, including meetings outside of normal business hours.

  • Work across Rockwell's technical community to define Technology Roadmaps and create solutions that drive market place differentiation.


  • Develop new processes to improve collaboration between PCB development and other Rockwell businesses.


  • Foster a climate of diversity and teamwork, rewarding and recognizing high performance with open, honest communication that supports Rockwell Automation values.


  • Create and foster the vision and the strategy for continuous productivity and quality improvements.


  • Establish metrics that can be used to measure the performance of PCB development and focus continuous improvement opportunities.

  • Determines annual budget requirements for the operating plan.


  • Identifies competitive threats and new technology that can be a differentiator in the market. Provides sound solutions to cost, performance and time to market tradeoffs.


  • Applies resources and sets spending levels that are appropriate to achieve the financial performance of the business 



Minimum Qualifications:


  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering OR BA AND equivalent experience in a large matrix organization leading a software development team. 


  • 8+ years of leadership experience.


  • 8+  years of experience as a software developer. Must have experience in all phases of the software development lifecycle using various technologies and development methodologies. 


  • Experience in building high performing software development teams, including: recruiting, developing, motivating and retaining members.


  • Demonstrated experience working in cross geographic teams to complete large program objectives.


  • Experience in coaching, training, and leading Scrum/Agile teams.



DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Certified Scrum Practitioner or Certified Scrum Master preferred. 


  • Master of Science in Computer Science or equivalent.


  • Experience in Industrial automation.


  • Experience in building cross-platform web and mobile applications.
