Senior Engineering Technician

Sr. Right of Way Agent

$23.82 per hour

There is one opening with Yakima County Public Services, County Road Department. The Right-of Way Agent performs more difficult and complex negotiations and settlements.   Serves as a lead worker to subordinate Right-of-Way Agents.  Education and Experience: Associate degree or two-year technical certificate in Real Estate, Business or Finance and four years related experience; or the equivalent combination of education and experience to perform the essential duties of the job. Responds to questions or concerns of property owners and the general public. Negotiates with property owners, within defined limits.

Serves as a lead to subordinates; instructs and/or trains others in work procedures, techniques and methods. May “fill-in” for the Manager in the Manager’s absence.

Reviews projects in order to determine right-of-way appraisal requirements.

Writes, reviews and prepares a variety of technical records, such as cost estimates, land appraisals and/or types of contractors needed.

Coordinates activities between department sections or with contractors and governmental agencies. Provides input for operational procedures.


Performs a variety of support activities requiring technical expertise, such as researching title vesting, determining land values, reviewing and/or inspecting the work of contractors. Assists Manager to make sure projects are in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
