Position Summary:


Provide the strategic vision and global leadership to Rockwell Automation's Global Product Performance Test and EMC teams. Develop, document and drive the global business strategy for PPT/EMC that supports success of RA's Business Unit's technical/product roadmaps, NPI/Continuation projects as well as RA's Strategic Framework goals.  Drive continuous improvement of common global processes and ensure proactive, scalable, cost effective, best in class PPT/EMC functional support. Anticipate and plan for changes in the Product landscape to meet product PPT/EMC test requirements and avoid any significant impacts to planned RA revenue streams. Responsible for strategic and technical development of personnel. Ensure team develops and documents tools to manage data assuring accurate, maintainable, and auditable information

Responsible for all PPT/EMC aspects of this technical organization in the testing of RA products and/or components.  Proactively works with BU Development, Manufacturing, Quality, Procurement, and the Strategic Sourcing Organization among others to establish short and long range PPT/EMC goals for RA, relevant to this functional area.
 
Responsible for staff management which ensures the planning and leading of strategic and technical PPT/EMC personnel, as well as managing expense dollars and capital equipment required to meet the PPT/EMC technical needs of the internal and external global customers of Engineering Services. 


  • Anticipates needs for change and revises PPT/EMC Business Strategy.  Works with and through others to implement change. Looks for synergies/partnerships that improve customer value within PQS, ES & OES


  • Attract, develop, and retains talent. Staff and develop a high-performing team responsible for interfacing with the businesses. Mentor and coach future managerial and technical leaders. Encourage development


  • Coaches and motivates staff toward achieving established goals


  • Increases the productive capacity of the working group by initiating new ideas, processes and systems


  • Applies integrated knowledge of RA to help increase quality, productivity, and cost effectiveness of processes that span functional areas


  • Responsible for the strategic and functional oversight of the High Current Lab, Shock & Vibration Lab, HALT Lab and Safety Agency Labs


    • Responsible that process defines proper execution of specialized tests on prototype and existing products to meet UL, CSA, IEC and other industrial requirements


    • Responsible that test specifications and tests are conducted as intended/required


    • Ensure processes are in place that provide valid test results


    • Analyzes test requests, estimates time requirements and provides quotations to customers


    • Schedules work load for maximum efficiency of test equipment and to meet stated deadlines of requestors


  • Responsible for the strategic and functional oversight of the EMC Lab


    • all of the technical aspects of EMC Services for RA internal customers to assure coordination and standardization of EMC Test processes across RA


    • assuring that the ES EMC Labs and Development Labs are using the appropriate EMC technologies


    • assuring that the ES EMC Labs are structured to provide forward looking technologies and technical consulting in line with RA's BU project and product EMC requirements


  • Ensures that Quality System for facilities is up-to-date, relevant and in compliance with applicable standards.  Ensure staff compliance to Quality System


  • Responsible that the product testing facilities support outside customers' testing requirements


  • Oversight of the Aarau Test House Team, to ensure process standardization, people development and proactive BU focus/support


  • Functional and strategic oversight of the Singapore Safety Agency and EMC Teams, to ensure process standardization, as well as responsiveness to urgent matters



Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of direct people management experience.
  • Proven experience with customer facing projects/leadership.
  • Product related experience/leadership with electrical products and/or assemblies.
  • Minimum travel - 25% (1-2 international trips per year).


 
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Masters in in Electrical Engineering or technical related field.
  • Proven Experience leading strategic change.
  • Experience working with (or leading) a Lab environment.
  • Global project leadership experience.
  • Product development and root cause analysis experience.
  • Budget management experience.
