Facilities Engineer

Basic Responsibilities: 

Serves as project engineer for construction, renovation and alteration of non-operational facilities.  Designs and develops solutions to facilities problems.  Recommends maintenance and retrofits of buildings, building system changes and equipment needs as necessary.  Optimize the energy and resource usage of District buildings and equipment according to the District’s conservation initiatives.  Inspects District non-operational facilities to ensure maximum life and performance through proper maintenance.  Serves as point-of-contact for customers, providing solutions to their problems.  Plans and coordinates the work of the maintenance and custodial staffs, inspects District non-operational facilities to ensure maintenance needs are met.

Minimum Qualifications:

Requires BS in Engineering, Architecture or related field and 5 years progressive experience in facilities engineering, including engineering evaluation of building construction, building systems & building equipment components. AHERA Building Inspector certification as established by EPA Asbestos Model Accreditation Plan; Interim Final Rule (40 CFR Part 763, Appendix C to Subpart E).  Must be current or obtained within six months of hire. WA State Driver’s License. WA State Professional Engineering License is a plus.
