The Global OEM Tech Consultant (GOTC) is responsible for product and technology adoption with partner OEM's in support of the Rockwell Automation OEM sales program. It provides a foundation for Rockwell Automation's reputation of excellence and knowledge of automation technology. The GOTC is a position that has extensive domain knowledge of the industry and applications being served along with in-depth knowledge of the Rockwell Automation products, technology and system architecture in order to provide domain level expertise consulting.
Typical activities include Proof of Concepts, control system design review, application programming consulting and assistance, technical demonstration and presentation, focused application training, app notes development, application library code development, startup engineering support, FAT Support.
Ensures thorough familiarity with company policies and procedures. Appropriately applies policies and procedures in compliance with government laws. Policies and procedures include, but not limited to: Standards of Business Conduct, Intellectual Property, Control Environment, Information Protection, ISO 9000 and 14000, government regulations (e.g., health, safety, quality, and environmental), and functional policies published on the Rockwell Automation Information Network.
Participate in development of application library code and templates that can be shared with the greater global technical community. Use existing library code as appropriate for OEM developments to leverage existing IP.
Bachelor of Science or higher degree in a technical field (i.e. BS Electrical Engineering, BS Engineering Technology, BS Computer Science) or four years equivalent knowledge in personal computer hardware/software, or industrial and process controls.
Minimum 5 years of electrical controls design, field service, or commercial engineering experience within an industrial automation environment is required.
Strong applied systems knowledge in main focus area of expertise and related areas.
- Experience applying Rockwell Automation core products including PLC, Operator Interface, Communications, I/O, presence sensing, safety, and visualization software.
- Knowledge of Drives and Motion
Experience with hands on troubleshooting abilities.
Industry and application experience in any of the following areas of automated industrial machinery: packaging, robotics, material handling, manufacturing, and assembly.
Advanced application knowledge of Rockwell Automation core products: ControlLogix Integrated Architecture, Kinetix Motion, Standard Drives, Safety products, Operator Interface (Panel View), Network Communications, I/O, Industrial Control, presence sensing and visualization software RSView ME (RSView SE is a plus).
Experience and background in discrete machine controls engineering development in an OEM environment. Machinery applications experience using servo motion and drives. Software background with RA products, visualization and 3rd party products and databases is a plus.
Understanding of electrical and functional safety standards and applications. Knowledge and understanding of the S88 & PackML industry standards and guidelines is a plus.
