Position Summary:


Rockwell Automation has a core global team developing large scale proposals as a Main Automation Contractor (MAC). This involves the collation of many facets including; Integrated Control, Power and Safety (ICPS) solutions plus third party equipment from instruments through to EHouses. Drawing on experiences, technologies and support from our offices around the globe, the LPP group is able to provide large scale solutions and proposals using all the available Rockwell Automation products within the PlantPAx (DCS) environment plus integration of third party solutions to present turnkey proposals throughout the worldwide operations.
 
We would expect excellent verbal and written communication skills and proven experience of developing successful relationships with a wide variety of groups: application, sales, engineering, maintenance and management and of course, our customers.
 
As this position carries much influence with the Client we would expect the LPP Proposals Manager to assure the team provides accurate, timely completion of proposals to our high standards and within budget. You will provide verbal and written reports to communicate tender status (both technical and commercial) as required and contribute to project review meetings.
 
Key management requirements include the management of the extended team throughout the regions (global) in the execution of proposals including their full adherence and compliance to Rockwell Automation iPE process in a timely fashion.

Key Job Scope:


  • To lead the LPP proposals team to produce technically and commercially compliant (or fit for purpose) solutions that best represents the company's products and solutions in solving; information control, power and safety (ICPS), FEED and MAC opportunities in key process industries. 


  • To work with the LPP Sales team through the use of Win Strategy Tools to identify opportunities that are worthy of investment at the proposals stage that can be converted into solutions that can be efficiently and profitably delivered by the operations teams. 


  • To ensure preparation of quotations according to the established procedure and documentation as defined in the relevant Code of Practice ensuring the most competitive prices and deliveries are submitted to the client. The role requires careful strategic thinking to manage the Proposals Team and their workload - reusing existing solutions or proven solutions where possible to minimize risk, but carefully weigh this against ever increasing technological and commercial pressure to press for design innovation and compliant solutions. To be able to design a solution from a blank piece of paper. 


Key Responsibilities:


  • Management and production of the generation of quotations based on client's enquiry specification following global procedures.


  • Review of the preparation of material and labor costing using the LPP costing procedures.


  • Review of the preparation of appropriate quotation attachments to support the proposed system solution.


  • Confirmation that internal processes have been adhered to in respect of risk with informal or formal meetings held with C&N and Finance, and where necessary, Legal, Engineering and Project Management.


  • Maintenance of complete records of the preparation of the quotation including, as a minimum, the following: 


    • Client enquiry specifications


    • Client correspondence


    • Third party and supplier correspondence


    • Costing sheets and quotation notes


    • Front log tracking, Win Strategy Procedures and formal approvals that all provide an audit trail. 


  • Preparation of subsequent clarification and/or conditioning responses to client's evaluation.


  • Assistance to the LPP sales team in the presentation of quotations to clients including global travel and short stays away from home.


  • Preparation of the necessary information and documentation associated with the handover of successful quotations to the Projects Group.



Minimum Qualifications:


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.


  • 10+ years in proposal management and large project pursuits. 


  • Proven leadership skills. 


  • Registration as a professional engineer with a recognized body would also be preferred.


  • Legal authorization to work in the US is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening


 
Desired Qualifications:


  • Experience in a proposals positions within the Control and Instrumentation environment with experience of commercial and contractual issues.


  • Attention to detail of work including design of adequate checking / validation procedures to appropriate quality standards and requirements of Functional Safety Management to IEC 61508.


  • Working knowledge of Control and Safety Systems (DCS, PLC, SCADA, Safety, Power and Power Management solutions) applications and instrumentation.


  • Knowledge of process industries including Chemicals, Upstream and Midstream Oil and Gas and petrochemicals.


  • Use of appropriate professional standards in the execution of your work, including awareness of risk factors.


  • A team player with the ability to motivate and encourage other team members.


  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers at any level of the organisation.


  • A track record in people management from a wide range of cultures.
