Supports engineering activities such as design, test, check-out, modification, fabrication, soldering and assembly of prototype electromechanical systems, experimental design circuitry or specialized test equipment. Possess basic knowledge of hardware and discrete logic design. Applications may include; analog, power conversion, digital and/or video circuits, and logic systems. Works from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform testing, checkout and trouble-shooting functions. Performs operational test and fault isolation on systems and equipment and assists in determining methods or actions to remedy malfunctions. Performs product validation testing that can include; environmental tests, electrical noise tests, agency certification tests and functional tests. Documents test results through written reports.
Uses development or diagnostic equipment, including, but not limited to, test programs, oscilloscopes, signal generators and specialized test apparatus.
Works independently and cooperatively with engineers and peers;
Displays strong coordination, interpersonal and communication skills.
Requires Associate degree in Electronic / Electrical Technology or equivalent knowledge/experience or equivalent military experience.
Typically 3 to 5 years of related engineering products development lab experience. Basic knowledge of hardware discrete logic design. Knowledge of the development lab methods for material procurement and building prototypes. Good interpersonal skills are required.
