Position Summary:

As an Embedded Software Engineer for Rockwell Automation, you will have the opportunity to exercise technical leadership across multiple product developments. You will be a key player in creating architectures from design and implementation through testing and deployment.

As part of this team you will work on cutting-edge technologies in embedded software to create best-in-class industrial automation solutions.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for embedded software development and identifying creative solutions to complex problems. We are looking for someone with exposure to various software architectures and can easily move among different embedded software projects. 

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering with a Computer Science emphasis or equivalent knowledge in the application of software engineering principles, theories, concepts, and techniques

Key Qualifications

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience with demonstrated professional development in software design, development, and test

  • Willingness to take on a leadership role in small project teams

  • Able to understand and apply knowledge of object-oriented analysis, design, and programming techniques, especially in C++

  • Experience working with real-time embedded development environments, use of emulators, analyzers and related instrumentation

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in Agile development

  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python

  • Familiarity with the Unified Modeling Language (UML)

  • Experience with Multicore/Multithreaded development

  • Experience with unit testing frameworks like CppUnit

  • Experience with Ethernet protocols, including data monitoring tools such as WireShark

  • Advanced courses or degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science

  • Experience designing and developing embedded systems using a Secure Development Life cycle

  • Experience in applying security constructs to a protocol or product

  • Experience using SSL, TLS, DTLS, IPSec or other secure protocol mechanisms

  • Experience with cryptography concepts and commonly used mechanisms

  • Experience with motion control systems and/or industrial automation products

  • Experience with Common Industrial Protocol (CIP) and CIP Motion Protocol
