In key states across the country, HRC is building a network of powerful grassroots volunteer leaders to help resist the attempts to rollback progress for the LGBTQ community. The Online Strategy Manager is a key member of the HRC team that will be working to educate, empower, and activate these key volunteer leaders, along with activists across the country ahead of the 2018 and 2020 federal and state elections. This position is a temporary, full-time position ending approximately November 30, 2018.
The Online Strategy Manager works independently, assesses program & department needs, develops strategy, and implements membership communication plans. The manager will work in cooperation with several departments and with remote colleagues across the country. This position also serves as the online project manager for dedicated efforts to increase volunteer engagement and cultivation. The Manager ensures the timely implementation and execution of targeted email communications and campaigns as part of HRC’s online strategy to engage constituents and forge long-term relationships with them. This position also has a strong focus on digital organizing, full-cycle event and volunteer opportunity promotion, and project management.
The Online Strategy Manager will work strategically with the teams responsible for the execution and implementation of HRC’s 2018/2020 state resource project.
• Manage the daily soup-to-nuts process of launching outgoing online communications (email, text, social media, etc.) and development of related online engagement elements (RSVP forms, action pages, patch-thru call-in programs, etc.).
• Work closely with and manage the requests of individuals wishing to send emails.
• Troubleshoot scheduling conflicts.
• Import content (text and images).
• Create and edit content.
• Secure approval for emails.
• Launch the finalized alerts.
• Develop communication strategies.
• Analyze data to gauge event success and implement new strategies.
• Ensure the consistent look and feel of all of our constituent communications, and have a significant role in ensuring that we are not over-communicating, while also ensuring we are engaging our list with the most effective actions possible.
• Utilize sound judgment and discretion to develop new messaging templates.
• Design, implement, and execute online forms and template adjustments.
Specific Duties Include:
• Oversee the execution of program-related targeted communications, including managing audience selection and the segmentation process; setting up templates in the eCRM system (Engaging Networks); drafting, editing and proofing content; executing all related links, pages and collateral; getting all appropriate approvals; and launching emails.
• Oversee the day-to-day management of HRC’s Eschedule, schedule requested emails’ educate others about and enforce HRC’s E-Policy’ and advise on available scheduling adjustment options as necessary.
• Serve as the day-to-day manager and point of contact for HRC’s eCRM including creating email, advocacy, donation and event campaigns; manage constituent records, groups and interests; provide digestible lay-person explanations for research and report requests; and beyond.
• Execute HRC’s list management strategy, update and maintain groups, and approve all audience selections.
• Track ongoing metrics and provide regular reports and analysis on campaign performance.
• Lead and execute social media efforts through regular posting (ex. event promotions, state action campaigns, volunteer recruitment)
• Serve as an in-house online advocacy expert; can build out HRC’s online advocacy petition needs quickly and deftly, as well as inform others about HRC’s technical capabilities for advocacy campaigns as it relates to HRC’s eCRM.
• Maintain detailed knowledge of both HRC’s program work and development operations—actively participating in all relevant meetings.
