Airport Equipment Operator II - City of Danbury

General Statement of Duties:
This is skilled work in the operation of automotive equipment and/or moderately complex construction and maintenance equipment at the Airport. May rotate among the various pieces of equipment as the workload changes. Work assignments are received daily and work is reviewed during progress or upon completion depending on nature of duties being performed.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Performs loading and unloading of equipment.
• Performs various laboring tasks.
• Operates brushing attachment, road sweepers, a small bulldozer, payloader, and/or other equipment as needed, performing rough grading or moving work, such as clearing, grubbing, backfilling and loading, etc.
• Operates a dump truck hauling materials.
• Operates equipment with a snowplow in an assigned area and other as assigned.
• Operates equipment with snow blowing and sanding attachments.
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:
Considerable knowledge of the traffic and safety rules and regulations and of the precautions to be taken to avoid accidents; a working knowledge of the methods and techniques of operating equipment and machinery at the airport; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; ability to physically withstand operation of equipment over rough terrain and occasionally under adverse weather conditions; skill in the operation of equipment assigned.
Experience & Training:
Four (4) years high school or trade school or equivalent training. Up to one year experience in public works, construction or related work. At least 6 months experience in the operation of automotive equipment. Must possess a Class I and Class II (CDL) driver’s license to operate automotive equipment within the State of Connecticut. Must be available 24/7 during emergencies or adverse weather conditions.
Employee will receive work assignments and general oversight by the Airport Equipment Operator III, The Assistant Airport Administrator, and/or the Airport Administrator
