Description

The Distribution Center (DC) Operations Manager will have responsibilities for the daily operation of multiple DC Departments as well as providing guidance and leadership to DC Advisors and Support Managers to ensure the accomplishment of the departmental and DC overall goals. Directly supervise and develop up to ten management staff and indirectly supervise, motivate and be involved in personnel issues for 20 to 40 front-line supervisors and 200 to 450 hourly workers. DC Operations Managers exceed customer expectations by delivering WOW! Customer Service by Living the Pledge every day.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Qualified candidates must be effective leaders with excellent communication skills, strong decision making ability, and must be able to excel in a fast paced environment. It is essential for the DC Operations Manager to foster and maintain a positive environment that develops and engages their team to maximize efficiency, accuracy, and profitability. The DC Operations Manager must understand the profit and loss statement and be capable of developing tactics to meet and exceed performance goals.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Day to day oversight of multiple DC departments for an entire shift or across shifts; Lead the DC in absence of the DC Manager.
Oversight of regulatory compliance as it relates to promoting a safe environment; Maintains a safe working environment while ensuring AutoZoners are committed to all safety practices and procedures including the proper use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
Oversight of facility upkeep to include scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, cleanliness, and organization.
Ensure KPI's (Key Performance Indicators) pertaining to safety, on-time delivery, inventory management, order fill rates and operational costs are analyzed, reported, and met.
Collaborate with Human Resource Manager to conduct workforce planning and determine staffing needs; conduct interviews and oversees the DC Advisors through interviews and the realistic job preview process.
Review, manage, and direct updates within Warehouse Management System.
Partners with DC Manager and Supply Chain leadership team to develop and implement a "best practices" approach to achieve supply chain excellence.
Communicates effectively with all warehouse departments to enhance the operation, efficiencies, and service provided to our customers

Recommends and initiates appropriate actions to promote recycling program participation, decrease expenses and improve profitability.
Initiates proactive partnerships with vendors, replenishment and stores organizations to ensure seamless communication and achievement of business goals.
Execute distribution strategy for the company and translates that into a functional plan for supervisors and their associates.
Manage total operation to meet productivity targets.
Create an order selection and delivery schedule in collaboration with the DC Transportation Operations Manager that maintains an equal daily workload.
Address AutoZoner issues and concerns in a timely and confidential manner; escalate matters when necessary and keep the DC Manager informed on any and all issues.
Work with inventory manager to slot merchandise in an effort to maximize efficiency, improve accuracy, and reduce potential damage to product.
Adheres to and ensures AutoZoners follow all AutoZone policies and procedures.
Performs other related duties as required


Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent required; College Degree preferred
Seven to ten years of leadership experience in a high volume, automated, customer focused distribution/production environment.
Proven understanding of core business functions and their linkage to the Distribution Center. Experience in leading multiple departments with a minimum of 2 to 3 direct reports and 100 to 200 indirect reports.
Proven track record assessing and developing talent. Management experience within a high volume distribution environment; 300,000 + sq ft warehouse; Powered Industrial Equipment; computer skills; Knowledge of OSHA and Department of Transportation regulations.
Willingness/Ability to travel to other AutoZone Distribution Centers periodically.
Experience and exposure to periodic project management assignments a plus. Ability to relocate is a must.
