Sodexo Senior Living is seeking an Executive Chef 2 for The Lutheran Village at Miller's Grant, a premier continuing care retirement community which is home to over 300 independent living residents and 32 assisted living and skilled care. This account is located in beautiful Howard County in Ellicott City, Maryland, closeby Baltimore and Washington, DC. The Executive Chef will over see 3 dining venues which include our casual bistro, pub, formal dining with each having it's own menu; and 2 country kitchens for skilled and assisted living residents.

The Executive Chef will report to the General Manager and manage a staff of 45 FT and PT hourly employees. Typical shift will be 10:00am - 7:00pm M-F, may vary with every other weekend coverage.

  • manage the daily food production including production planning and controls;
  • be creative, innovative and have the ability to lead and challenge a diverse staff of workers;
  • ensure Sodexo Culinary Standards including recipe compliance and food quality;
  • manage food costing, controls and compliance;
  • develop menus and manage inventory;
  • have high expectations for customer service and quality of food;
  • have the ability and willingness to develop and train front-line employees;
  • have a passion for food and innovation;
  • have knowledge of special diets and allergens; and
  • knowledge of Sodexo Food Management System (FMS) is preferred.

The ideal candidate has:

  • a strong culinary background (culinary degree preferred) with the demonstrated ability to stay current with new culinary trends;
  • a forward thinking menality, exceptional customer service skills and enjoys daily interaction with residents;
  • excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to maintain the highest of standards and implements company policies;
  • ability to oversee multiple dining venues; and
  • strong management skills.

Position Summary

Provides culinary leadership within a medium sized unit including menu planning, program execution and staff management & training. Works directly with internal and external clients managing the catering process from beginning through execution.

- Implements & coordinates the culinary function.

- Ensures food preparation & production meets operational standards.

Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Associate's Degree 
Basic Management Experience - 2 years
Basic Functional Experience - 2 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
