Sodexo has multiple career opportunities available in Torrance, CA for an Environmental Services\Custodial Manager 1 for Harbor- UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, CA. We have a 3rd shift and a combined 1st/2nd shift available. Harbor-UCLA is a 512-bed public teaching hospital founded by the County of Los Angeles, and serves as the level I trauma for adult and level II for pediatric trauma center in South Bay area. Harbor-UCLA includes the leadership of over 180 employees and nearly 2.3 million square feet; this facility is a fast paced, union environment with multi language employees. Seeking Bilingual candidates, the ability to communicate in Spanish would be helpful in managing this workforce. Relocation is not offered at this time.
The ideal candidate will have prior experience in a Hospital environment, strong client/employee relationship-building skills and possess the ability to manage direct reports in multiple locations on the campus, handle multiple priorities, quickly grasp situations and logically progress through solutions, the ability to refine systems ensuring sustained effort of achieving standards, and follow through and visibility within the facility. Demonstrate in-depth technical knowledge of Environmental Services operations in the Health-care as an Manager, Sodexo programs and systems (TRAKKAR, UOS, Gold Checks, etc) as well as customer and employee relationship skills. Strong project management, analytical, communications and computer (Excel, Word and Power-Point) skills are needed for this role in conjunction with a comprehensive understanding of Sodexo’s corporate and CARES cultures.

The “Hands-On” manager primarily handles day to day operational functions and ensures unit level, corporate, employee relations, safety, training, and unit operating systems compliance. Managing in a strong union environment is a plus but not a requirement.
Provides management oversight for Environmental Services non-exempt level staff (client and/or Sodexo employees) in the delivery of Sodexo Environmental Service Programs. Ensures Sodexo Operating Standards for Environmental Service are in place as required to consistently meet all company, client, and regulatory requirements. Responsible for non-exempt work force planning through effective scheduling, development of daily work flow assignments, training and development, and monitoring for compliance to the plan.
-Establishes a safe work environment for clients, customers and staff by ensuring equipment safety and compliance with Sodexho safety and loss prevention programs and by providing safety-related training and equipment inventory maintenance.
-Provide leadership and direction to non-exempt employees
-Coordinate/conduct employee training
-Administer Human Resource processes (hiring, performance reviews, constructive counseling, prepare work schedules, payroll, etc.)
-Interact with outside vendors
-Ensure Sodexo Operating Standards for Environmental Service are in place and consistently met.
-Develop/implement action plans for improvement in compliance with Sodexo Operating Standards as identified.
-Reviews and maintains assigned areas of the Sodexo/Client budget commitments.
