Perform testing of new Product lines for Industrial Inverters/Converters in a laboratory environment. Duties include assessing test equipment requirements, creating detailed test documentation and executing test procedures for analog, digital and various 3 phase power converter products. Supports development engineers and design personnel as required. Capable of operating in an independent mode once direction has been provided by an engineer or project manager.
Evaluate existing products and processes to identify methods for functional and economic performance improvement and, through analyses and experimentation, propose modifications.
Develop test plans and analyses to realize the most effective process.
Coordinate offsite testing when required.
Perform circuit / product testing, evaluating performance per specification and providing expert insight as to other observed phenomena.
Maintain and learn new technological skills so that they may be appropriately applied in product test or to development processes
Experience in thermal data acquisition systems.
Utilize and interpret the following test and development instrumentation: Digital oscilloscopes, Analog and digital volt meters and ammeters, Differential amplifiers with voltage probes, Current transformers, hall effect current probes with amplifiers, LCR meters, Tachometers, Torque transducers, Power supplies, Plotters, Personal computers, Spectrum analyzers, Logic and data analyzers, IR imaging equipment, Dynamometers, and Environmental Chambers.
Must understand and practice laboratory procedures for the safe and efficient use of electronic instrumentation, electrical power, rotating electrical machinery, and general laboratory cleanliness.
Applies knowledge of internal/external processes to develop and implement strategic work assignments. Writes reports, test plans, functional specifications, hardware descriptions, and other related or supporting levels of documentation.
Assist others in the accomplishment of development programs, from proposing and evaluating design concepts through experimentation and prototype development including engineering documentation.
Provide engineering content to other department personnel for new and improved products. Help develop alternative technical solutions and design tradeoffs on features versus cost, performance & timing.
Compose well written, legible, and accurate notes of experiments, including a summary on interpreting test results and recommendations.
Ensures thorough familiarity with company policies and procedures. Appropriately applies policies and procedures in compliance with government laws. Policies and procedures include, but not limited to : Standards of Business Conduct, Intellectual Property, Control Environment, Information Protection, ISO 9000 & 14001, government regulations (e.g. health, safety, quality and environmental), and functional policies published on the Rockwell Automation Information Network.
Acquire knowledge of the procedures and norms of the organization, and an appreciation of how tasks are accomplished.
Develops effective working relationships across Rockwell Automation.
Significant team contributor in the area of Product Development.
Assist in solving customer problems, operating in concert with the assigned engineer.
Utilizes computers for the purpose of collecting data and transferring files.
Familiarity with business information systems for transfer of engineering data (SAP)
