The Bourns Automotive Division has played a leading role in the design, development and manufacture of potentiometric sensors since 1949. At our engineering centers in Riverside/California, Taufkirchen/Germany, and Auburn Hills/Michigan we develop and design an extensive range of customized automotive position, speed and torque sensors. These products are manufactured in Ajka/Hungary, Chihuahua & Tijuana/Mexico and Xiamen/China.

Our research and development work combined with close collaboration with customers help to ensure that our products meet the highest standards set for the automotive industry. Using state-of-the-art development software and world-class production methods, Bourns can provide innovative and cost-effective solutions to customer applications.

This position will be responsible for the sale of Automotive Sensors and Automotive Components to Companies in assigned territory.

In this position you will:

• Achieve the agreed upon sales objectives for the assigned products in the assigned markets by cultivation on new programs and new customers.
• Demonstrate proven sales prospecting using cold calling, prospecting programs and other media with specific focus on new product sales growth at both new & existing customers.
• Spend the majority of your time in the customer environment, building relationships with key buying influences, analyzing processes, uncovering needs and presenting ways that our products can add value.
• Identify all design-in opportunities within assigned accounts and execute all necessary actions to gain successful design wins.
• Coordinate customer satisfaction with timely quotations and prototype deliveries for customer programs.
• Play a key role in understanding the business processes and needs of customers and consulting on how our products can impact their results.
• Be an expert on all aspects of our product capabilities and their application in the customer’s environment.
• Coordinate and communicate project requirements to the appropriate people within Bourns (Sales, Engineering, and Manufacturing) and provide feedback to the customer as required.
• Provide information regarding market trends and emerging accounts to Bourns management including Product Line General Managers on an ongoing basis.
• Domestic and/or international travel will be required up to 10% travel.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Support, promote, and perform in a manner consistent with high performance teams, continuous improvement goals, and values of Bourns Automotive Division.


Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree.
• 1 to 3 years of relevant work experience in the automotive market selling to OEM’s, Tier One, Tier Two and Tier Three suppliers. Proven history in successful sales growth and prospecting.
• Must have a team selling approach to the job. Must be familiar with Strategic Selling concept and able to put it into action.
• Proficiency in use of networking/prospecting programs like: LinkedIn, Spoke, Jigsaw,
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point is a must.
• Must possess spoken and written fluency in English and Spanish.
• Demonstrated presentation skills required.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, sales team, program management and the plants.
• Excellent team building skills and knows how to motivate others throughout the organization. Needs to take hard measures to ensure maximum results for the Bourns Automotive Division and Bourns overall.
• Possess out of the box thinking attitude.
• Flexibility and high energy level required
• Must possess and maintain a Valid Driver’s License.

This position is located at the Auburn Hills, Michigan office.
