Position Summary:
Job Summary
Rockwell Automation is looking for someone to grow their career as a Team Leader of  Embedded Software Engineers.  You and a team will develop and enhance our existing and next generation application code for  Programmable Logic Controllers and Communication devices.  You will see and learn all functional aspects of product development.  You will have the ability to make major impacts on product developments, collaborating with leadership across Engineering, Product Management, Business, Project Management, Agile Train Management, and Quality.  In this role you will provide technical content as a team member in delivery of objectives but also get involved in the technical details and decision making.  The environment fosters a collaborative and innovative approach to work with teams across the globe.  It is dynamic, fast-paced, and requires a highly motivated individual with a passion for embedded software development and test.  In this role you will be continually supported and developed with mentorship and coaching.  With success in this role, you will have the opportunity to grow and develop into an engineering manager with increased scope and responsibility without giving up all the  technical responsibilities in the near term.
You will:
  • Work with a team  of 5-10 people of  Embedded Software Engineers and a Scrum Master in a servant leadership manner to provide technical coordination and guidance for your team in the areas of architecture, refactoring, design integrity, implementation, test, and mitigation of quality issues.
  • Ensure product development activities comply with corporate and business level processes and procedures.  Be responsible for helping the team think and create a continuous improvement mindset against those processes and procedures.
  • Develop the team  and assist them with  goal setting and achievement. Directly supervise  a team of electronic Embedded Software engineers  by providing for their continued development, motivation, and performing performance management.  Work with individuals to help them reach their full potential.
  • Encourage a positive and inclusive work environment to foster outstanding performance.  Work with leadership to  understand and then implement the  vision of  a performance driven and collaborative workplace.
  • Help your team eliminate non-value add work by leading improvement activities in design capabilities and processes so your team is best in class in development execution.
  • Be relentless in our persuit  of creating quality designs and high quality software delivered  and tested right the first time.



Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar technical degree
  • 5+ years of experience in product development and delivery of Embedded Software systems
  • 2+ years of experience demonstrating technical leadership capabilities, working effectively with different levels of staff across functional boundaries.

Desired Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar technical degree.
  • 3+ years of programming skills in Python and/or C++ in an embedded environment
  • 1+ years of experience with Agile / Scrum way, ideally in a Scaled Agile Framework.
  • 1+ years of experience in a continuous delivery continuous integration style of embedded development.
  • Experience in product development and release of embedded electronic software systems for regulated industries.
  • Experience in industrial automation product development or related technical areas, including background with large scale system development projects.
  • Experience working with global team members on multi-campus product development.
  • Experience in project management, either as a combination of technical lead and project management role or as a dedicated project manager.
  • Experience developing electronic Embedded Software systems that meet functional safety standards, such as IEC 61508 or IEC 61511.
  • Experience developing electronic Embedded Software systems that meet security standards, such as IEC 62443.
