The Thomas E. Cook Counseling Center invites applications for a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. This is a full-time (11-month) professional faculty appointment at our Blacksburg campus.
The Cook Counseling Center provides mental health services to the student community of Virginia Tech.
The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner works with a multidisciplinary team to assess, diagnose, and treat students referred for psychiatric evaluation. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner works with Board-certified Psychiatrists and Nurse Practitioners as well as with the counseling professionals to provide timely and professional care to students.

Required Qualifications: Master's Degree in Nursing; Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, Board Certified (or eligible for Board certification); Licensed or qualified to apply for advance practice nursing license with prescriptive authority in Virginia. Experience in the outpatient treatment of mental health concerns.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in working with young adults. Interest in working with mental health professionals in training, i.e., medical students, pre-doctoral interns in psychology and counseling. Supervisory experience with nursing staff.
