Join us and start doing your life's best work.SM  Primary Responsibilities: This position will be based out of North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, NY. You will be assisting patients/family members in completing various government sponsored programs on-site. Assess patient's eligibility for government sponsored programs/financial assistance. Verifies patient's information to complete application. Coordinates with various agencies and individuals to resolve individual cases. Provides information regarding health system regulations and policies pertaining to medical coverage. Contacts patient/family and conducts interviews for the purpose of assessing eligibility. Meets with and assists patient/family in completing applications in order to ensure coverage. Checks patient account for previous balances and advises patient of all financial obligations. Informs patient of collection policy Notifies appropriate hospital staff regarding eligibility status and determination. Coordinates with various city and county agencies to resolve individual cases. Answers the telephone and maintains files. Informs Supervisor/Manager of activities, issues and problem cases. Accumulates data for performance reports. Performs related duties as required. Some work is completed without established procedures. Basic tasks are completed without review by others. Supervision/guidance is required for higher level tasks.


Requirements:  High school education or GED 3+ years of experience in an office setting environment using the telephone and computer as the primary instruments to perform job duties Knowledge of applying for Medicaid / Affordable Care Act applications Available weekends and every other holiday to work 37.5 hours per week 8:30a-4:30p working Wednesday to Sunday Bilingual English/Spanish Must have a valid Certified Application Counselor (CAC) certification or ability to obtain a CAC certification within 3 months of employment.
