The primary responsibility of this position is to serve as a front end to Customer Support and Maintenance (CSM) business. This includes marketing the products and services for CSM and managing the quoting, customer and sales contacts required to obtain planned level of incoming business. The position combines significant elements of Sales, Marketing and Engineering. Besides the generation of quotations and customer visits, this person is also responsible for being the liaison and technical expert to support appropriate market channels. This channel support includes providing application expertise of systems and solutions for their specific industries. Although there are no direct reports to this position, it is expected that persons in this position will manage the expectations and associated activities of sales, engineering, project management, customers and business unit management toward obtaining stated goals for their specific industry business. It is expected that this position will be directly responsible for providing booking levels commensurate with planned level requirements for their specific industries.
The secondary responsibility of this position is to provide customer support and engineering through the performance of small projects, on-site installation, as well as troubleshooting, service, and repair of complex equipment and systems.
Consultation regarding the application of products, technologies, manufacturing processes and industry-specific applications.
Review customer specifications and drawings and prepare quotations via current available quotation tools and follow applicable guidelines.
Handle all communications on quotations, specifications, orders and potential orders between CSM, Channel and Customer.
Establish specifications from a customer's broad description of the machine operation or the customer process.
Project and site management support including management of project activities such as scheduling, budgeting and human resources to ensure that the project meets the customers and Rockwell's expectations.
Product and system start-up, system integration support, and production optimization.
Identification and correction of hardware failures, firmware problems and programming deficiencies, as well as the implementation of hardware/firmware updates and upgrades.
Instruction/training of customers on proper use, operation and maintenance of Rockwell Products.
Development, implementation and execution of predictive and preventive maintenance programs.
On-call emergency service support and troubleshooting assistance (24X7).
Travel to remote work sites from the service engineer's field office city location will also be required. (Work assignments at remote city locations may be for extended periods of time.)
Strong product knowledge including, but not limited to, Control (ControlLogix/CompactLogix/PLC5/SLC500/MicroLogix), HMI (PanelView/Industrial PCs/Distributed HMI), LVD (PowerFlex drives), and Motion (Advanced motion control, Kinetix Servo Drives and Motors) Software (FactoryTalk VantagePoint, Historian
Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering discipline or the equivalent of 10 years experience.
10 or more years of successful site support or controls engineering.
5 or more years of specific Rockwell Automation product support and implementation.
Valid driver's license.
Ability for local travel greater than 50% of time.
