Description

Our Financial Wellness Experts work with clients to evaluate their financial options and make a recommendation based on their unique situations and budgets. During these sessions, Experts strive to build a strong rapport and create an environment where clients are comfortable sharing sensitive and personal information. The goal of an Expert is to coach and mentor, ultimately creating a more financially secure future for our clients.

The Financial Wellness Expert has been thoroughly trained, and is certified by the National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC), to assist clients in finding realistic, and financially sound options to resolve credit card debt, mortgage delinquency, and collection debts.

Meet Alice, age 65.
No one knows her pain. She has not told her adult children because they have their own financial problems. She feels alone and embarrassed about her dire financial situation. Her mortgage payment is falling behind, her medical bills are growing and at times she is not sure how she will afford groceries. She is concerned that she will lose her home, and continue on a path toward financial disaster. She feels like she should just try something else, but what? She isn't really sure that anyone can help at this point.
She finds courage and decides to make a call to GreenPath. She is greeted by the welcoming voice of a Client Advocate and reassured that help is on the way, she is not alone, and that she will be okay. She is quickly transferred to Daniel.
Daniel welcomes Alice on the line, and invites her to tell her story. A wave of relief comes over her as she speaks up for the first time about her financial struggles. Daniel, a Financial Wellness Expert, is invested in her, he listens and seems to really care and empathize with what she is going through. She doesn't hear any judgement in his voice. Daniel asks what her goals are, and wants to help her create an action plan. He also discusses different options to help her make a thoughtful decision on her next steps. For the first time in a very long time, Alice feels a sense of peace. She may actually fall asleep tonight. She feels more prepared and focused on her next course of action. She truly feels comforted that that she isn't alone and that everything will be okay.
Alice's emotional journey is not uncommon. 80% of Americans struggle with debt.

Requirements

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Gather and evaluate client information to determine and recommend an appropriate course of action for the client's financial situation. Maintain confidentiality/discretion regarding client financial situation.
Counsel and provide educational materials to clients regarding budgeting, credit and money management.
Provide all clients with an action plan detailing the recommended course of action to resolve their financial situation
Follow up with clients after initial assessments to ensure clients have full understanding of options and recommendations presented to them regarding their financial situation.
Communicate and respond empathetically to clients and creditors to maintain successful relationships resulting in successful center operations.
Work with detailed information. Available to work evenings and weekends to meet business demands.
Perform additional functions as assigned by the Supervisor or Manager.

EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree from an accredited four year college or university OR Degree Equivalency.
Degree Equivalency will equal to:

1. 4 years of industry work experience. Ex. Banking, Lending, Housing, etc. (this is not an exhaustive list and additional work experience could apply)
OR

2. An Associates Degree + 2 years of industry experience (see examples above)

Bilingual (Spanish) required
2 years related work experience in banking, lending, counseling or credit counseling preferred.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from staff, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to communicate effectively and respond with empathy to staff, clients and creditors.

Ability to operate a computer in a Windows based environment, utilizing various software programs encompassing word processing, spreadsheets, data bases and e-mail to produce and manage essential reports and correspondence.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
