Bachelor’s degree in public relations, marketing, English, journalism, mass communication or related field. Upon evaluation, two years of experience related to the minimum experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
Two years previous corporate communications, public relations or journalism experience required. Experience working with and reaching diverse audiences.
Spanish speaker preferred. Agency experience is highly desired.
Requires knowledge of public relations, integrated marketing communications and diversity marketing. Robust knowledge of communications best practices based on strategy, audience needs and available technology.
Strong, detailed writing, proofreading and editing. Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization. Successful at building relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders. Critical thinking—ability to see and consider the bigger picture. Sensitivity when communicating with various audiences. Media relations skills and ability to respond quickly to requests. Understanding of legal issues around sharing stories. Excellent project management skills. Skilled in using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Internet search applications.
