The public relations specialist, is responsible for implementing public relations programs that help Be The Match achieve business objectives through awareness and engagement of diverse audiences. The public relations specialist develops tools and resources, as well as helps ensure a positive brand reputation through support of issues and crisis management, organization-wide message development and training, and compliance to communication and graphic standards.


Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s degree in public relations, marketing, English, journalism, mass communication or related field. Upon evaluation, two years of experience related to the minimum experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.

Minimum Experience:

Two years previous corporate communications, public relations or journalism experience required. Experience working with and reaching diverse audiences. 

Spanish speaker preferred. Agency experience is highly desired.

Key Knowledge:

Requires knowledge of public relations, integrated marketing communications and diversity marketing. Robust knowledge of communications best practices based on strategy, audience needs and available technology.

Key Skills:

Strong, detailed writing, proofreading and editing. Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization. Successful at building relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders. Critical thinking—ability to see and consider the bigger picture. Sensitivity when communicating with various audiences. Media relations skills and ability to respond quickly to requests. Understanding of legal issues around sharing stories. Excellent project management skills. Skilled in using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Internet search applications.
