With more than 240 full and part-time employees, Oak Crest meets the needs of an organization providing 24-hour care and services. Its flexible schedules, numerous job opportunities, and excellent benefits have gained Oak Crest the distinction of being the first not-for-profit organization in DeKalb to be recognized as the DeKalb Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year.
Beyond this, the Center keeps abreast of changes within the field and strives to create a positive and safe environment for those who work and live here. Oak Crest accomplishes this by offering ongoing education and training opportunities and participating in a voluntary program offered through OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration). The Federal and state program entitled SHARP (Safety Health Awareness and Recognition Program) is a program that encourages communication and cooperation between businesses and government. It’s purpose is to improve the overall safety policies, procedures, and practices in an industry often plagued with health-related accidents and injuries. Oak Crest’s distinction as a SHARP organization makes it one of 35 businesses in the State of Illinois and the only continuing care retirement community to receive this recognition.
