The Communications Specialist assists with the coordination of the Office of Institutional Advancement communication efforts externally and internally. This position aids the Assistant Vice President in playing a key role for OIA's reputation with employees, donors, prospects, alumni, volunteers and the general public. Duties and responsibilities broadly support fund raising efforts and alumni relations.

  • Develop & implementation of annual communications plan in consultation with Director of Marketing and Assistant Vice President, Institutional Advancement.
  • Develop, coordinate & edit marketing and donor communication vehicles both on and offline, including but not limited to newsletters, eNewsletters, appeals, acknowledgment letters, endowment reports, annual report, multimedia videos, etc.
  • Coordinate updates & improvements on OIA's Web site and online giving pages.
  • Manage OIA's Social Media presence via Facebook, email marketing, Twitter, Blogs, etc. as directed by management.
  • Develop & update general and program brochures, media kits, key messages, fact sheets, & other collateral material as needed.
  • Work with the College's News Bureau to assist with coordination of edia outreach & coverage with media releases, TV/radio interviews, feature stories, PSAs, press conferences, etc.
  • Create and coordinate public speaking engagements with/for OIA spokespeople.
  • Coordinate photography for/of events, activities, etc. for use in publications, media etc. and ensure appropriate releases are signed and filed; maintain graphics & photo files.



EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years' experience in marketing, public or media relations, communications or related field.

EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in marketing, public or media relations, communications, or related field.


EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of experience in fundraising, alumni relations, public relations, program administration or a related field. Familiar with activities involved in planning special events and/or programs. Experience with Raiser's Edge and net community.

EDUCATION: Master's Degree

Standard office equipment and software. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint).

Primarily office environment; primarily sedentary in nature.
