This Medicare & Retirement (M&R) Sales Director is responsible for managing a staff of Agent Managers. This position reports to the Regional Sales Director and is accountable for the Western North Carolina market area. The Sales Director oversees the field distribution staff to include Independent Captive Agents (ICA's) and Field Marketing Organizations (FMO's.)

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Delivers monthly and annual sales target objectives

  • Ensures all distribution channels meet the targets while maintaining marketing and compliance guidelines

  • Effectively manages and develops the area sales team (ICA and FMO Broker channels)

  • Ensures membership goals are met primarily through the acquisition of new members but also through effectively and efficiently managing sales-related member migration / retention programs in a market

  • Manages acquisition cost, investments & spend by appropriately allocating and managing fixed & variable costs associated with staff, marketing, community programs, etc.

  • Proactively develops and executes strategic, comprehensive sales business plan for market that will be used to achieve / exceed sales goal; revises plans and strategies as dictated by market changes, sales results and other factors

  • Establishes relationships with community - based organizations (CBO's), and medical groups / providers etc. to generate business

  • Identifies, pursues, creates the strategy and executes on new business opportunities

  • Ensures staff adheres to selling guidelines associated with Medicare regulations, CMS, partner expectations and company policies & procedures

  • Provides daily, weekly and monthly reporting

  • Tracks lead activity and divides supplied leads amongst the team

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Higher level of education
  • 5 + years sales / business development experience creating strategy and market development
  • 5+ years staff supervisory / management experience
  • 5+ years working with Medicare & Medicaid products / consumers
  • Must be Spanish/English bilingual
  • Travel up to 100% of time in the market area
  • Live within a commutable distance to the market area
  • Active health & life insurance license
  • Knowledge of CMS regulations and standards
  • Established professional relationships with community - based organizations (CBO's) etc. in the territory
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Management experience in the insurance industry
  • Bilingual
  • Prior experience managing Brokers or Agents
