Senior project engineer oversees engineering and operating processes used to create products and complete projects in various industrial applications. They check that project designs are maintained at a high standard while overseeing the needs of the client. They will ensure the project runs smoothly with the help of a cross functional team while finding ways to improve processes. Typically, senior project engineers will work on multiple different projects across multiple industries. They usually work in an office but often may be required to visit customers for initial project requirements.
Primary focus will be directed towards supporting post sales activities for engineer to order customer specific projects. This includes; interpreting proposals, Industrial Control product knowledge, project engineering order management, and development/creation of additional post order deliverables. These include product design, project layouts, engineering calculations, bills of materials and end-product drawings/specifications accurately defining requirements of design specification. Key working relationships for this position will be with all other aspects of the business, most notably including; Distributors, End User's, Manufacturing, Operations, as well as other internal communications.
Project Management & Time Management are a must.
Acts as technical development lead in the design for systems and product development. Projects consist of Products that are engineer-to-order and although based on standard product and functionality, they will vary with every order.
Interpretation of Project Requirements RFQ's, commercial/technical documentation & product requirements for KEY customer projects.
Development and creation of drawings, utilizing 2D & 3D E-Plan Pro-E with some possible Creo design work required.
All aspects of the project will be completed to a high standard performing quality control checks throughout all stages of the schedule.
Ensure conformance to design and equipment specifications and compliance with codes, operational, and safety standards
Support manufacture, build and testing/validation of products
Responds to sales orders and engineering approval requests in a timely manner
Provide Additional Technical Support where applicable.
Travel as required to support projects
Provide guidance and product knowledge to other application engineers & mechanical engineers
Improve Rockwell Automation's internal processes to better serve customers while saving time and lowering costs;
