Americas Market Intelligence is looking for a skilled and talented Research Director to lead and support our growing Payments Practice. To be based in Coral Gables, FL our new Research Director will be responsible for supporting the Senior Director of the Payments Practice and leading large projects in the payments practice.

With offices in Miami, San Francisco, and across Latin America, Americas Market Intelligence is the leading market intelligence and research firm servicing Latin America. AMI's Payments Practice has conducted over 200+ engagements in the payments sector analyzing trends in areas such as eCommerce, digital wallets, P2P, remittances, card issuing and acceptance, contactless technology, alternative payment methods, acquiring and processing, B2B payments, etc.


The Research Director position is a client-facing role which requires the end-to-end management of client engagements, as well as sales and business development activities. Responsibilities include:

- With the support of the Payments Practice leader, create project plans, including developing project timeline, planning for the execution of research efforts and deliverables, assembling a team of AMI analysts and subcontractors.
- Fully lead projects end-to-end, managing a team of analysts, researchers and subcontracts.
- Communicate with clients as the primary contact and lead on projects.
- Manage and conduct bi/tri-lingual desk research in the payments sector.
- Manage and conduct bi/tri-lingual primary research, including phone interviews, personal interviews and focus groups.
- Conduct analysis of research results to create actionable intelligence for client deliverables.
- Lead the creation of client deliverables in both English and Spanish, which take the shape of PPT decks, written reports, Excel datapacks and oral presentations.
- Present the final deliverables to clients in English and Spanish.
- Perform follow-up with clients, researchers and analysts as needed.
- Support the creation of content for AMI Payments industry Thought Leadership research and writing.
- Collaborate with the Practice Leader to identify and pursue sales opportunities
- Support the Practice Leader in other sales/business development activities such as proposal writing, speaking at industry events, creating content, etc.
- Travel between Miami and San Francisco and to Latin America 20%.


An ideal candidate will have:
- 5+ years' work experience in the payments/financial services industry in Latin America.
- Candidates with additional experience in business research/consulting are highly preferred.
- Experienced in the oversight of client engagements and client management.
- Experienced managing small to medium sized teams.
- Bi-lingual in English and Spanish. Fluent Portuguese is highly valued.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- A curious, investigative, and analytical mindset.
- Was born in or has studied and worked in Latin America.
- Has US work credentials.
- Travel experience across the Americas.

- BA/BS or equivalent, or higher in the fields of business, political science, economics, finance or journalism.
- Relevant certifications or qualifications welcome.
