NSA Overview

The professionals at the National Security Agency (NSA) have one common goal - to protect our nation. The mission requires a strong offense and a steadfast defense. The offense collects processes and disseminates intelligence information derived from foreign signals for intelligence and counterintelligence purposes. The defense prevents adversaries from gaining access to sensitive classified national security information.

The National Security Agency (NSA) currently has opportunities available for highly motivated High Voltage Technicians with industrial/commercial experience. This well-rounded team of professionals is responsible for high, medium and low voltage electrical power installations. Responsibilities include emergency and supplemental power generation, primary (HV/MV) and secondary (LV) electrical substations, overhead and underground power distribution, SCADA systems, digital and analog control systems, power protection equipment, large scale UPS systems, building services, switchgear, power conditioning equipment, as well as general lighting, grounding, and lightning protection systems.

Description of Position

Operate and maintain high voltage electrical systems such as main switchgear, generators, uninterruptible power systems (UPS), power panels, lights, outlets, motors and controls operating at up to 115,000/230,000 volts.

In addition, the candidate shall adapt work methods in response to new information, changing conditions, emergencies or unexpected obstacles. Have the ability to articulate viewpoints and answers to customers, peers, and supervisors in an effective manner, both written and orally. Identify and analyze technical issues, reporting, and documentation and attend project status briefings. Knowledgeable with calendar scheduling, MS Outlook, MS Word/Excel and office equipment such as copiers, printers and scanners.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule
On-the job training, Internal NSA courses, and external training will be made available based on the need and experience of the selectee.

Rotating shift or fixed shift, 8, 10, or 12-hour shifts adjusted as necessary. The organization provides staffing 7 days 24 hours including weekends and holidays.

Mandatory Qualification Reqs
Successful candidates will possess strong written and oral communication skills and demonstrate understanding of key principles of electrical power technology. Ability to work well in a rotating shift or fixed shift, fast-paced, challenging environment is essential.

Completion of formal training in a recognized Electrical Apprenticeship Training Program is preferred and or military experience in the Prime Power Production Specialist MOS with Instrumentation or Electrical Specialties.

Salary Range: $45,972 - $59,762 (Entry/Developmental)

Entry is with a high school diploma or GED and no experience.

Must have Vocational/Technical training in an Electrical related field (e.g., Electronics, Electricity, High Voltage, Telecommunications, and Circuitry) and/or relevant military training.

Experience as a technician (or similar role) in the electrical or high voltage field is desired.

Salary Range: $56,233 - $73,105 (Full Performance)

Degree must be in an Electrical related field (e.g., Electrical Technology, Electronics Technology, Applied Science in Electrical Engineering, Fiber Optics, and Microwave Transmission).

Relevant experience must be as a technician (or similar role) in the electrical or high voltage field and include participation in a state recognized apprenticeship program.

Salary Range: $68,036 - $106,012 (Senior)

Degree must be in an Electrical related field (e.g., Electrical Technology, Electronics Technology, Applied Science in Electrical Engineering, Fiber Optics, and Microwave Transmission).

Relevant experience must be as a technician (or similar role) in the electrical or high voltage field and include participation in a state recognized apprenticeship program or completion of a journeyman electrician license.
