Hispanic Resource Center Coordinator Location: Martin Regional Library Salary: $3,678.00 - $5,551.00 / month Status: Full Time Job Summary: Serves as a dynamic leader in coordinating and providing services in one of the unique cultural Resource Centers (African American, American Indian or Hispanic); serves as liaison, advocate and expert between library staff and the community to promote library services and innovative cultural programs; builds and maintains specialized collection; provides information and programming to community about cultural topics.

Essential Functions: 1. Develops and maintains specific cultural collections, includes the selection and de-selection of materials within specified budget;2. Serves as a library and community liaison to promote cultural collections and services;3. Builds an effective, active advisory board and works closely with members to provide responsive, relevant programming, collections, and services to community;4. Assists customers, answers questions, recommends materials, and providesreference information regarding specialized collection;5. Develops and implements timely, engaging, innovative programming for Resource Center and throughout the library system;6. Provides training for library staff on the available services and materials within collection.7. Develops and maintains a dynamic virtual presence for the Resource Center; updates the library website on a regular basis to ensure community has the most recent information;8. Actively engages community and participates in community events with organizational partners. 9. Provides leadership and acts as Person in Charge at home location;10. Works as both Resource Center Coordinator and library location staff, splitting time equally between the two;11. Represents TCCL in a positive, professional manner to local community organizations and the media;12. Performs other duties as assigned or required. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 1. Strong knowledge of collection building and maintenance processes and procedures;2. Ability to recommend materials and provide information to customers in assignedarea and cross reference cultural resources when working with library location customers;3. Strong written and oral communication skills;4. Proven ability to build relationships with community partners and to actively promote library and resource center services, programs, and collections;5. Exceptional public speaking and presentation skills;6. Bilingual reading/writing/speaking required for Hispanic Resource Center7. Must be engaged, active, involved, leader in the community,8. Proven expertise in selecting specific cultural resources within the resource center collections;9. General knowledge of library processes, procedures and operations;10. Solid knowledge of computer equipment and relevant software and hardware.

Education and Experience: 1. Masters Degree in Library Science preferred, and required post hire;2. Two or more years experience in collection management required;3. Three or more years experience in successfully building community relations within a specific culture.4. Or equivalent combination of technical training, education, and/or experience. Physical and Environmental Conditions: Work occasionally requires stooping or bending. Occasional light lifting, such as three orfour reams of paper, four or five books, or other materials (up to 20 pounds) may berequired.
