Job Description

Family Health Centers at NYU Langone, a designated Level 3 Medical Home, is the largest federally qualified health center network in New York State, and the second largest in the nation. It includes nine primary care sites, 33 school-based health centers and dental clinics, four day care centers, the nation's largest dental residency program, and New York State's largest behavioral health program. The network also includes 12 community medicine sites providing care to disenfranchised New Yorkers, comprehensive HIV services, chemical dependency programs, and a family support center that offers educational, vocational, and other social support programs. Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Early Learning Network Coordinator.

The Family Health Centers at NYU Langone, in collaboration with NYU Langone Health's Department of Population Health, is seeking an Early Learning Network Coordinator for The Sunset Park Early Learning Network as part of a larger cross-sector, place-based School Readiness initiative.

Recognizing that health depends upon an individual's economic, educational, and employment status, The Family Health Centers at NYU Langone's Department of Community Based Programs offers an extensive continuum of family strengthening and community development programs to address the broader needs of the community. Anchored by the Department, The Sunset Park Early Learning Network (ELN) is a shared service alliance of the community's early childhood programs (including center-based, home-based, family and informal childcare services), family literacy programs, technical assistance providers, citywide agencies and Sunset Parks public schools. The goal of the Network is to ensure children's readiness to enter kindergarten by maximizing the impact of strong, coordinated, community-focused early education. It improves children's outcomes by 1) increasing the quality of the early childhood workforce and the capacity of service providers in the community through professional development and through: 2) the development and implementation of program strategies that will enhance teachers effectiveness and the quality of classroom instruction; 3) the development and use of data to inform service delivery and track whole-child outcomes; and 4) increased parent involvement. The Sunset Park Early Learning Network Coordinator will bring a community organizing background to lead and coordinate the ELN.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates the operations of the Early Learning Network (ELN), developing and supporting a learning community for all providers
  • Grows the network to include additional early childhood providers, with a particular focus on Family Child Care and informal (Family, Friends and Neighbors) providers
  • Conducts outreach to informal providers to assess their needs in order to engage them in tailored ELN services
  • Recruits, hires and supervises the ELN Early Childhood Specialist, who provides coaching and mentoring to members
  • Stays abreast of early childhood public policy and city funding to further inform practice
  • Collaborates with key stakeholders on strategic planning to expand the reach and impact of the Network on Sunset Parks early childhood providers and families
  • Researches collective impact initiatives focused on informal caregivers to identify best practices for engagement and support
  • Facilitates and coordinate monthly meetings with ELN members
  • Works with development team on fundraising and grant development. This includes site visits, grant and report writing, and program development
  • Cultivates new and nurture existing relationships. Link ELN members to services based on needs identified
  • Works with the Data Research Analyst to develop a uniform metrics to measure impact and outcomes across different program models

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and/or 2 years of relevant experience
  • Bilingual - Mandarin/English

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in early childhood education (0-5 years old) and the landscape of early childhood services in New York City
  • Knowledge of the Sunset Park community
