Description

Summary
The Manager on Duty reports to the Transportation Manager, and works with him/her to ensure events are dispatched on time. Primary responsibilities include managing vendors on the dock, answering and responding to emergency calls, and managing the transportation team in the building and on the road.

Essential Functions

1. Answers the emergency phone, responds quickly to the caller, and manages necessary follow-up to ensure problems are resolved.

2. Supervises the loading dock, facilitating quick unloading by vendors, as well as ensuring that all product is distributed to the correct location.

3. Assists the Transportation Manager as needed, managing the drivers and driver assistants, making sure that pick-ups and deliveries are made on time, and that downtime is used efficiently.

4. Responsible for outside equipment rental receival and returns. Communicates quickly and efficiently with rental companies and the sales team to locate and return lost items.

Work Environment
This position works in a warehouse setting, with some outdoor exposure during the workday.

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Evening, weekend and holiday work may be required as job duties demand.


Requirements


1. Bachelor's degree and or any equivalent combination of related education and experience.

2. Two (2) years of experience in a managerial role required. Logistics, transportation or warehouse experience preferred.

3. Technologically savvy; proficient in Microsoft Office.

4. Preferred experience in hospitality or food service industry.

5. Bilingual in Spanish and English required.
