Leavins Seafood, Inc. is hiring 22 Oyster Shuckers to work in Franklin County, FL from 10/19/19 to 6/5/20. Hourly wage of $10.97. OT hourly wage of $16.46. M-F(7 hrs)(7:00 AM to 2:30 PM); 35 hrs/wk. Perform manual labor to shuck oysters using a knife to gently pry open live oysters. Full time temp job offer. Workers may be offered additional hrs in a single work day. Severe weather may affect the harvesting of live oysters, thus, affecting the number of avail hours during a work wk. Weekend work may be offered. OT, if worked, will be paid at time and 1/2 the regular hrly rate. Req manual dexterity and prolonged standing. Must lift and carry 25 lbs. Workers must use extreme care using knife as a lever to pry oysters open and shells can split into razor-like shards, both of which can cause injury to hands. Must be 18 yrs old or older. FDA sanitation standards and requirements including personal hygiene and communicable disease apply. Safety gear that includes, rubber gloves, goggles, apron and cap must be worn at all times. No edu or exp req. If applicable, transp and a subsistence allowance to the job will be paid upon completion of 50% of the employment period or earlier. Return transp will be provided or paid for by the employer if the non-local worker completes the employment period or is dismissed early by the employer. Transp provided for all temp oyster shuckers located within a 5 mi radius to and from work each work day. Dormitory-style shared lodging is available in employer owned housing for a cost of $40.00/wk for workers residing outside of the commuting area. Elected housing will be payroll deducted. Empl provides all tools, supplies and equip req to perform the job. Empl may pay piece rate of $9.00/gallon shucked, or $10.97/hr, whichever is higher. The employer will make all deductions from the worker paychecks as req by law. Payroll deduction for the purchase of extra tools is available at a workers request for the benefit of the worker.
