TITLE: HQ Finance Manager of Field Operations

DEPARTMENT: Finance

POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking a Finance Manager who will join our HQ Finance team to provide financial and accounting support to our field operations. The position will support monthly funding transfers, financial and accounting reporting, and year-end close financial activities with all field operations. This position will also support the Field and Programs on grant compliance as well as support Finance on quarterly grant reporting to donors. This position will provide training as needed, and complete other finance tasks assigned. This position will work closely with the Emergency Programs Manager of Finance, HQ Program staff and the Finance managers in our field operations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide financial/accounting assistance to foreign field offices, incudes direct interaction and day-to-day finance support of field finance and accounting operations, liaising with Program managers, as needed.
  • Review all foreign field operations’ finance and accounting activity and reports, including reconciliations, and any other supplemental data uploaded for month end close.
  • Review foreign currency translation of foreign entities under ASC 830 and top side accounting entries, including local statutory to GAAP accounting entries
  • Review month end intercompany reconciliations
  • Conduct monthly budget vs actual reviews of field office funding streams and liaise with the Director of Financial Planning & Analysis.
  • Review of monthly balance sheet accounts checklist of foreign entities
  • Support facilitation of monthly field office fund requests and funds transfers.
  • Conduct field office training and support field audits, as required.
  • Ensure that field accounting operations are consistent with the policies and procedures of Americares and in compliance with local laws and regulations.
  • Train and mentor non-finance personnel in the use of financial systems.
  • Support the year-end external audit.
  • Assist in the completion of other finance and accounting tasks, as assigned.
  • Identify and implement process improvements as part of continuous improvement initiatives


Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Advanced degree in accounting necessary and big 4 audit experience preferred
  • A minimum 8 of years of relevant experience as well as at least 2+ years of humanitarian aid and/or nonprofit experience in finance
  • Must have experience with international field offices/subsidiaries including experience in the areas of consolidation, intercompany transactions, account reconciliations, and multi-currency financial reporting.
  • Experience using an ERP system to perform consolidations and foreign currency translation, preferred
  • Track record that includes working knowledge of US Government rules and regulations, cost tracking, NICRA rate and A133 audit processes, preferred
  • Familiarity with private and public grant award management, NICRAs, USAID draw downs, and the Super Circular dated 12/26/14, preferred
  • Interest and knowledge of accounting theory and thought leadership around best practices and trends in the nonprofit financial accounting industry, preferred
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills in English; multi-lingual with proficiency in Spanish
  • Strong problem-solving skills — demonstrated ability to apply creative solutions, work effectively in highly fluid and stressful circumstances.
  • Detail oriented, and ability to be hands on when required.
  • Ability to work well in cross functional teams and proven ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff
  • Self-starter with ability to function as a team player among peers
  • Excellent skills in Excel, including processing and analyzing data from different sources using advanced Excel functionality such as Advanced Formulas, Macros and Tables.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of time. Most travel will be South America, Africa and Asia
  • Must have a valid passport and U.S. driver's license
  • Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States
