Academic and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, promotion, or related, with high level of design knowledge.  
  • Minimum of five years of experience in marketing/public relations/advertising or related field.

General Description:

Develop and manage the Orlando Museum of Art’s (OMA) annual public relations and marketing partnerships with the goal of supporting the institution’s recognition as the preeminent art museum in the region, while advancing attendance and financial goals.


Specific Tasks:

  • Develop strategic marketing plans and related budgets to promote the OMA including, but not limited to exhibitions, permanent collections, educational programs, visitation, group sales, facility rentals, membership, special events, collaborative partnerships, etc.
  • Develop and supervise the implementation of publicity plans, including story angles, press materials and releases, public service announcements, etc.
  • Coordinate and advance positive media relations locally, regionally, nationally, including media alerts, conducting media previews, scheduling media interviews, acting as liaison with the media for video and still photography shoots, and responding to media requests.
  • Supervise the design, printing and production of the OMA’s exhibition catalogues, brochures, press materials, Members’ magazine, direct mail, sales aids and other collateral.
  • Develop annual advertising plans and negotiate and coordinate all advertising buys and schedules for print, broadcast, internet and outdoor advertising, paid and in-kind.
  • Oversee the duties and work flow of the graphic/multi-media coordinator as well as the marketing and public relations interns and/or volunteers. Produce and maintain their production schedule and job tracking log.
  • Serve as the liaison with OMA’s pro bono advertising agencies, as available
  • Attend United Arts marketing manager meetings, community groups and events and public/social functions to develop a network of support to promote the OMA, including diversity task force meetings. Other duties as assigned
  • Work with the Development Department to create marketing partnerships with project sponsors and to obtain in-kind media sponsors and financial contributions where possible for programs and events. Supervise the maintenance and updating of OMA’s website. Work with all OMA departments and support groups to ensure branding standards are maintained.

  • Comfort and level of sophistication in dealing with members of the Museum’s staff and Board of Trustees
  • Well organized and able to plan effectively to meet prescribed deadlines and budgets
  • Detail and multiple task-oriented
  • Able to interface cooperatively and professionally with the general public and people of diverse backgrounds in business and social environments
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Access, etc.) and website functionalities
  • Website coding knowledge is a plus
  • Proficient with Google Analytics
  • Highly knowledgeable and conversant with social media and its many platforms, uses, and reach for marketing and relationship management
