Description

SPIE seeking Mid to Senior level Software Engineer

Our People: We have scientists, writers, editors, event experts, software engineers & testers, mountain bikers, road cyclists, runners, hikers, skiers, snow & skate boarders, soccer players, gym rats, dancers, actors, hula hoopers, video game players, musicians, artists, mushroom hunters, foodies, travelers, animal lovers… in short, geeks of all kinds.

Our Organization: SPIE, The International Society for Optics & Photonics, is a fast growing, not-for- profit, dedicated to the advancement of light-based research and technology. We serve researchers, students and the photonics industry with educational opportunities including scientific conferences, and publications.

Why we love working for SPIE: Our Software Development Team feels it’s a wonderful place to be a
nerd, as we support scientists even nerdier than we are, including Nobel prize winners!

“It’s gratifying to work for an organization that is part of making the world a better place. As a not-for- profit organization devoted to helping light scientists communicate their findings with each other and the world, we are advancing global scientific knowledge. This allows scientists to find better solutions and develop new tools. It's a nice feeling to know that my work is contributing to an organization where that is the focus.”

“One of my favorite aspects of working in the IT department at SPIE is being a part of the team of dedicated and talented employees. There is a strong emphasis on open communication, discovering the best solutions and helping others. The work is challenging and has enabled me to continue to expand my skillset as a software engineer.”

Who we’re looking for: Amazing, smart, talented people to join our dynamic team of technologists. The SPIE Software Development team is primarily focused on the Microsoft technology stack experience, but we’re researching and expanding into new areas as we go.

Our experience wish list: A BS in Computer Science and a minimum of 5 years of development experience, including knowledge of ASP.NET, MVC, C#, HTML/HTML5, CSS/CSS3, XML/XSL, Vue.js, Javascript, JQuery, JSON, AJAX, SQL, MS Visual Studio, best practices for software development, written and verbal communication skills. Microsoft Dynamics CRM experience a plus.

What’s in it for you? Competitive wage and benefits package including medical, dental & vision with 100% paid premiums for employee, 75% paid for dependents, long and short-term disability, life insurance and 403(b), gym memberships, athletic race teams and registration fees.
