Description:

Provide high quality health care to Kaiser Permanente members in a cost-effective manner and in accordance with accepted professional practice standards.

Essential Functions:
- Provide high quality health care through direct screening, diagnosis and formulation/implementation of treatment plan for mental health patients (may include depression, anxiety, marital conflicts, etc., in individuals, couples, families or groups). Document in writing all care in patient's permanent medical record in accordance with accepted medical/legal standards. Provide all care in accordance with accepted practice standards and hospital/clinic protocols (including supervision by a physician).
- Provide case management through appropriate triaging and referrals, reporting to other providers, telephone contact with patients and their families, and contact with outside agencies.
- Consult with other department providers regarding treatment plans.
- Perform other duties as requested. 



Requirements

Basic Qualifications:
Experience
- Two (2)  years of clinical experience.
- Minimum two (2) years clinical experience involving either experience working within primary care (PC), (e.g., MSW), or on inpatient units, or primarily conducting comprehensive assessments, including assessment of substance use/misuse (e.g., EPS/ED), OR minimum four (4) years of outpatient mental health (MH) experience.
- Experience providing brief, short-term, solution-focused assessment and interventions geared toward functional restoration, using methods supported by best-practice evidence.
- Experience managing multiple demands.
Education
- Master's level degree required (M.S.W., M.S., M.A., M.Ed.).
License, Certification, Registration
- Current unrestricted Oregon AND Washington license (LCSW, LMFT, LPC, LMHC, PsyD or PhD) required. License in state where assigned required upon hire/transfer, application for license in secondary state required within 2 weeks of hire/transfer and must be obtained within 6 months. EPS Only: Current unrestricted Oregon OR Washington license (LCSW, LMFT, LPC, LMHC, PsyD or PhD) in state where assigned required upon hire/transfer.
- National Provider Identifier (NPI) required prior to employment start date.

Additional Requirements:
- Thorough knowledge of psychosocial diagnostic categories and treatment approaches including evidence-based treatment modalities, suicide assessment, and therapeutic crisis intervention.
- Working knowledge of legal requirements for reporting abuse and homicidal threats.
- Quickly and accurately assess, diagnose and develop treatment plans.
- Intervene and effectively treat emergent problems involving mental health functioning.
- Strong interpersonal communication and problem solving skills.
- Rapidly establish rapport with a diverse population of patients presenting with a wide range of psychiatric, social and emotional difficulties.
- Process and communicate in a manner that is sensitive and appropriate to the cultural, linguistic and psychological needs of patients, families and other health care team members.
- Function effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary team and to collaborate well with other disciplines despite potential disagreements or conflict.
- Remain calm and use appropriate skills to defuse potentially violent or aggressive situations.
- In the event of patient suicide, the resilience to manage emotional impact, ability to evaluate clinical assessment and treatment plan decisions, and integrate new learning.
- Identify and respond to chances in policies, regulations, and procedures which can impact the patient.
- Ability to use electronic medical record.
- Ability to access, diagnose and treat child and adult mental health patients. Individual, couple, family and group therapy skills required.
- Ability to provide coordinated care and comprehensive assessments to all PC patients regarding addictions/substance use issues and MH issues.
- Knowledge of ASAM assessment dimensions, Bio-psycho-social assessment standards and demonstrates understanding of interface of these standards with medical conditions.
- Ability to partner with PC provider and team to develop treatment plans for MH, addictions and MH issues related to new medical diagnoses.
- Ability to provide patient and family education effectively and sensitively to encourage compliance with medical and behavioral regimes.
- Ability to coordinate speedy assessments and successful referrals for other care providers.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC)/Chemical Dependency Professional (CDP)
- Thorough and working knowledge of psychological diagnostic categories and evidenced based treatment approaches.
- Working knowledge of relevant outcome measures.
- Familiarity with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.
- Working knowledge of legal requirements for reporting abuse, homicidal threats, involuntary hospitalization, etc.
- Thorough and working knowledge of ethical guidelines and behaviors for therapists.
- Ability to access, diagnose and treat child and adult mental health patients. Individual, couple, family and group therapy skills required.
- Ability to manage a large caseload, and to interface with large provider and support staff.
- Efficient use of electronic medical record.
- Proficient electronic mail communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills in windows applications.
- Knowledge of Co-occurring mental health and chemical dependency disorders.
