NSA Overview

The professionals at the National Security Agency (NSA) have one common goal: to protect our nation. The mission requires a strong offense and a steadfast defense. The offense collects, processes and disseminates intelligence information derived from foreign signals for intelligence and counterintelligence purposes. The defense prevents adversaries from gaining access to sensitive classified national security information.

The need to maintain our core Computer Science group is vital to provide the technical capabilities necessary to successfully execute NSA's mission. The increased complexity of supporting NSA's mission requires world class researchers, programmers, and system and operations developers who collaborate in teams in areas such as software engineering, information technology infrastructure, high performance computing, data science, cloud and system architectures, computer security, and networking in order to design, develop, and implement advanced tools, techniques, and systems on to NSA's infrastructure.

The National Security Agency (NSA) located at Fort Gordon, Georgia currently has opportunities for highly motivated Computer Systems Architects to design and build the information technology framework of the future across the NSA.

Computer Systems Architects at NSA use commercial and government developed hardware, software, networking, and security products to:

- drive information technology projects
- produce compliance results for established project requirements and IT architecture
- modernize IT architecture through analysis of research and introducing changes based on evolving project requirements
- integrate industry trends, emerging technologies and standards, and new vendor features
- collaborate with experts in technical and application teams to identify, evaluate, and recommend technical solutions to support project requirements
- define and analyze data requirements, mapping legacy data stores and formats to logical and physical data models
- propose standard ways for information transport between IT systems and stored within corporate knowledge databases
- perform architectural alignment of the enterprise logical data model and physical data models

Specialized skills and experience in one or more of the following is required:

- System administration with Windows, UNIX, and/or Linux
- Programming and scripting experience (e.g., C, C#, C++, Java, Assembly, Python, Perl, Ruby, Bash, Node.js, Spark, Puppet, SALT, KAFKA, HADOOP, Visual Basic, Microsoft PowerShell)
- Database design/development (e.g., NiFi, MongoDB)
- Network protocols and hardware
- Virtualization fundamentals
- Cloud architecture
- Security architectures and appliances
- Firewalls Boundary device solutions/architecture

This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday.

Ft. Gordon is located on the southwest side of Augusta, the second largest city in Georgia. It is the home of the U.S. Army Cyber Center of Excellence. Augusta is located on the Savannah River and offers a full range of seasons. A short, breezy spring leads into a long, warm and often hot summer! Autumn arrives with a long period of mild, sunny weather and is followed by a short, moderate winter with infrequent cold snaps and rare occasions of snow or ice. The average annual temperature is 64.3 degrees; August averages a low of 68.4 and January has an average high of 56.5.

Augusta offers a wealth of attractions including the Riverwalk, the Morris Museum of Art, the Lucy Craft Laney Museum of Black History, and many historical sites. The major airline hubs of Atlanta and Charlotte, Atlantic Ocean beaches and the Blue Ridge Mountains are all within easy driving distance. Home of the Augusta National Golf Club and Tournament (the Masters), the area has numerous golf courses, including a course at Ft. Gordon. Clark's Hill Lake boasts over 1,200 miles of shoreline for water activities. If the arts attract you, there is an Augusta Ballet, Symphony, and Opera. The Augusta Arts Council sponsors an annual ethnic arts festival, Arts in the Heart of Augusta. Free concerts, classic movies, and community events are held regularly at the Riverfront Amphitheater.

Housing is very affordable, and you get more for your money. There are possible real estate entitlements for CONUS moves.
